Why do companies still make new products using Micro USB in 2024? I actually need one of these but the Micro USB is putting me off, as petty as that sounds..

This is some serious '1st world problems' if I ever saw it.

    • Bet it's cheaper somehow. Components already mass produced for poor markets in the world where this connector is still standard maybe.

    • Bought one recently and it was USB C

What's the appeal of these battery desktop fans? Are there actually offices out there in 2024 without aircon? Why do you need a battery in it?

Can use on a van /caravan?

For me personally, my room only has a single outlet power point and my 8 outlet power board is full already and I want another fan for the upcoming summer (QLD summers are just very rough) and a small rechargeable one means I can just place it on my desk while working/gaming and blast it to my face

I like to sleep near a fan, if travelling can be helpful, also a tip on multiple sites if going on a cruise

Living in tiny dorm room, bought an air purifier to hopefully improve sleep. Placed it on bedside table. Nighttime breathing & sleep improved.
But couldn't afford replacement filters, so ran it as a fan - found was just as effective!

Now sleep with small $3 kmart 5 speed rechargeable fan directed at lowest speed across my face - like a light breeze.

With no cables & small footprint base - its easily positioned beside bed. Quietly runs all night. Used over 3 years. Easy to take when travelling OS. (This is a bit big)

      TIL, thanks everyone.

For me it's because open plan office AC kind of sucks in that it's not set cold enough for me. Battery powered means I can use in office without test and tag.

    • This has been my favourite fan because it's versatile and can be put away easily.

The telescopic feature means it can extend from ground up to hip level (good for sitting/in bed). It's also not cumbersome because the wire is not mandatory (fyi it's not "battery", it charges via the port). I like that I can take it from one room to another easily.

For those wondering, on low-medium setting and fully charged, this lasts the whole night and then some more. It can also stay plugged in to run forever.

Must have missed the part that said the portable fan must be used in an office, and that 100% of the population of Australia are office workers, and that everyone everywhere has aircon, even outside!

    • Personal use case is in a campervan. Whilst I have DC fans, something like this gives portability and options.

Last time I used it was when I was working on the house battery system, so couldn't actually use any of the other fans.

Come to think of it, would use one in the office too, because the floor thermal loading is a touch more than the AC system can handle, so it gets a bit warm in the afternoon.

    • Camping, using a fan when you don't want to plug in or have wires in the way, have lived experience you haven't considered…

    • I use one to cool my amplifier when I pump it hard.

    • I wouldn't call this a desktop fan. It's pretty big

  • How much is the usual price?

    • +1

      $19 + Delivery

      • So not really a deal.

  • Thanks! Almost broke my current 4 year old cheapo yesterday, not remembering if it was telescopic or not.. 😅 Still Gucci but this will be a great replacement to get it higher on the table I use it on. Muchas gracias! Now I has a functioning spare!

  • Looks a good deal vs ALDI. This fan type is in this week's ALDI catalogue for $24.99. 4000maH battery vs the 3600maH for the KMart one here, otherwise similar specs. ALDI one might be slightly larger. And doesn't telescope.

  • Great for FIFO, I sleep with it on instead of aircon on moderately warm nights, folds up for easy storage during RNR. I have the VEVOR one that oscillates posted a month or two back but expired now. Not sure if this one oscillates

    • Have this and can confirm no oscillation

  • What's up with onepass . Logged into it . Selected kmart and then get onepass login page again . I'm paranoid so got out if it.

    • +1

Yeah, lots of logins and re-logins recently. Poor user experience seldom warrants a fix though.

  • I looked at onepass playstore ratings . Surprised.

  • Thanks, bought 2 :)

I got the Vevor 12inch from this deal

Its awesome as it has a remote and oscillation. Also comes with a 10800mAh battery.
