I wouldn't bet on it. The machine is almost entirely plastic and common touch points look flimsy. It screams cheap.

Don't know what the coffee machine is like, but the grinder is only a small step up from smashing coffee beans with a herb chopper. If you are dropping that kind of coin on coffee machine, you need a better grinder. I highly recommend a Eureka Mignon Specialita.

Speaking from personal experience. My journey was pre-ground Illy tins -> Sunbeam EM0480 -> Breville Smart Grinder Pro -> Eureka Mignon Specialita. I should have not wasted the hundreds of dollars on the two grinders in the middle. Years of frustration and not quite right coffee could have been avoided.

I agree, the Breville SGP is in the bare minimum bottom tier of grinders. Serviceable, but not great.
+1 for the Eureka Mignon range, I have one of these (Silenzio model) and it's been great.

    • Yep. It pains me to see people spending big coin on the machine but completely neglect the grinder. It’s like buying a Ducati and cheaping out on the tyres.

Agree it's barely serviceable if you are a keen coffee hobbiest but its a massive step up from a herb chopper, I went up from a real cheap conical (and have since gone up a few steps from there) and it was a big improvement back then.

I'd say it's likely more than enough for most people, even if you're using a BDB, just most of the people saying it's no good are aiming a lot higher in their home coffee (like me tbf)

  • Expresso machine is ok grinder kind of sucks but u can make it work great setup for beginners

  • I bought the combo a few years back - would recommend just buying the BDB by itself and getting a separate grinder (I now have a DF54 which is great).

  • This is a good price of you flip the grinder.

How've I could not wait and went for a Lelit Bianca instead! So much for sales….

lelit bianca I would say is a much more pleasant coffee machine to use BDB, still can't get over how loud the DBD is after starting to use rotary pumps lol

      • I'm 💯 sure the BDB is a fantastic machine, but yes, that Bianca is all pleasure from weighing beans to backflushing the group head… Then I can spend another few moments of pleasure just looking at it.

Got one of these machines second hand a few months ago and haven’t bought a cafe coffee since. Consistently good tasting coffee at home is great. Recommend.

I bought a refurbished Breville machine from the official Breville seller on eBay for $820 last month. It came in perfect condition, like new, with the original box and all accessories. I use it every day, and it makes great coffee. I'm really happy with it!

Amazing value that will get you far. Mine has lasted about 10 years with one service in the middle when some o-ring failed inside after not being used for a few months, no biggie.

Personally upgrading my grinder to a Niche Zero to see what all the fuss is about, but you don't need to when you're starting.

Good luck, have tried to buy this in the past and always seems like it can’t be delivered or picked up even though saying in stock. Not bad price if you can get it.
