  • how do these compare to the North Face Base Camp Duffel?

    • North Face is 1000D TPE with a 1680D ballistic nylon base (from past deals). Likely to be more durable - and possibly lighter? For real expedition work they're your choice but for travel, camping etc the Denali Expedition III is very good value.

Mountain Design 90L has comparable specs to North Face. Its $89.

Main Outer: Tarpaulin with PVC coating
Base: 1,000D Polyester with PU coating
Lining: 210D Polyester with PU coating

        • MD is closer to Denali III to look at. Those specs seem to agree.

  • Isn’t Denali the Amazon brand?

  • Why can I not find any other deals on this bag? Trying to assess quality and if there's been genuine interest in it in the past.

    • Yeh, interesting, I thought this version (III) would have been posted before. I mentioned them on a North Face or MD deal previously and someone said they'd keep an eye out when the deal inevitably returns.

I have a couple of DE IIIs. They're very solid, well-made bags, as good as MD imo but NF is a step up. TPE and ballistic nylon are generally ultra strong and durable materials.
Edit: iirc someone mentioned that the Denali III shoulder straps are better than the MD

    • Found this, not sure if accurate though.

      • They've been MUCH cheaper now that I've checked. I paid $45 (35% less) for the 90l less than 12 months ago.

  • Note: Anaconda marks these as bulky items. They aren't, but delivery prices may vary as a result.

  • This big enough to fit a 5' 10" man inside?

    • +3

My Dad left for a pack of smokes and never returned. He was 5' 10". At least this provides closure

      • Hopefully he wasn't eaten by an Anaconda instead….

    • Hot or cold?

    • whole or parted out?

      • +1

Well, I'm usually in a bit of a rush when packing, so whole.

Should i buy one of these to store all the Mountain Design duffle bags i bought on special and have never used?

    • word of warning i recently took 2 of the MD ones on a trip that involved a bit of travel between destinations (also had a backpack as carryon). I thought it was a great idea as I could keep the second one folded up and only use if needed on the way back (which I did). Was not very fun carting 2 full duffels and a backpack around, would not do that again!

  • Anyone know the size and weight when packed up?

I have the old school north face lightweight packable duffle bag and haven't found anything of the similar because they don't make them anymore. (weighs maybe 400g)

Great for small stuff/light but bulky items. (it is quite thin material)

Very handy for travelling when you're unsure if you need a bag

  • These are relatively heavy duty, waterproof. You can buy lightweight duffles for under $20 for that purpose. We used one for excess baggage (purchases) in Europe.

    To answer your question though - carry bag's roughly 40x40x6cm, 1.5kg (latter's a guess)

I've got these and rate them. Took them to Kenya recently, lots of travelling and safaris and they held up well.
Can't remember the price but I think I got them around 50% off rrp. The fold up well too and come with their own little carry bag.

I got 2 of these to take to the snow and they're great for packing into the car, especially the roof pod.
