    Perfect for Halloween

You can recreate that lawnmower scene from ‘The Happening’. Haha

  • +1

    The fabric catchers, just no.

    • +4

You don't really need catcher, just remove it

      • Correct - Just mow the lawn after you are done

never new these things existed, have been using metal rake to great frustration for past 20 years, i have the ozito brushless 36v mower, so i guess get the ozito scarifier unless bunnings have a ryobi bundle with battery and charger to get people into their ecosystem ?

    • The Ozito one is decent if you've already got their batteries. I've got it and am happy.
Can't compare it with Ryobi but this is a similar price point.

    • +4

Nah just get the Ozito, just as good. Ryobi had an awesome product when this came out because there was such a huge price difference between this and literally anything else. But now given how much cheaper Ozito batteries are (and their brushless scarifier is cheaper than this too) it makes no sense to recommend Ryobi unless you're in the ecosystem. Even then i'd use this as a good excuse to jump into the Ozito ecosystem.

    • The draper 240v version (total tools $269) is excellent and gets great reviews. I chose not to go cordless as i wanted all the grunt I could get. Very happy with the choice.

      • Looking to buy Draper as well, just waiting for a discount 😉

      • Oh awesome, I didn't know about this. I just like the 5 year warranty on ozito - it makes me feel better when I buy cheap that I'm not lighting my money on fire.

    • Marketplace is a good way to get into the ecosystem…I picked up a wheelbarrow, two ozito batteries with chargers, a hedge trimmer and all sprayer for $25. All I really wanted/needed was the wheelbarrow but turns out now I'm keen to spray my lawn and could sell my Ryobi hedge trimmer!

    • I've got the Ozito and also picked up the aerator tines (basically a power rake) while I was at … haven't used the scarifier blades as yet, but did use the aerator tines a couple of weekends ago and boy did it pick up A LOT of dead grass etc. Worked a treat but with no catcher, I had to then go along with a plastic rake and pick it all up .. didn't take too long, and wasn't hard work.

Can't wait to use the scarifier blades and see how they go.

      Battery lasted about 20 mins.

    This is the normal price.

Yep, got excited for a second.

  • Plant native grasses like Weeping Grass & Kidney Grass & you'll only need to mow your lawn once a year

    • This product is for people who like to maintain a healthy lawn and take pride in their house.

      • 'Pride' in 4 walls & a roof.
        Yes, most people are vapid

If you only need one for a once off use there will be someone local on facebook market place renting one out for the weekend for $50.

    • +7

Or you can buy this and rent it out on Facebook for $50 for the weekend :)

Like the tool but it’s hard to justify buying and keeping it in the shed since it’s used only once or twice a year. I am using a manual aerator at the moment. It’s a fair bit of work though.

  • +2

I have one,it's good, but this is not a deal as this is same price it's been at for over a year re..

  • +1

My biggest concern is the battery time :(
Seems it works for 20 minutes on the 2 4A batteries on avg.
Why would they not make the corded version of this???

    • +1

Cos they want you to buy the batteries and get sucked into the 18V vortex whenever you visit Bunnings tool shop!

  • Does anyone know if you can use different capacity batteries together, or do they need to be the same?

    • +1

You can use different capacity batteries, but it's not recommended. I wouldn't use this tool with anything less than a 4AH battery.

      • Thanks very much @guidedlight 🙏🏻

  • +1

is this actually cheaper im pretty sure this is normal price, alot of money to pay for one time a year

    • +2

It is the normal price. There is also a 36V version that comes with a 4Ah battery for $549, and the 36V version can be special ordered without the battery.

It easily would cost at least $300 to have someone scarify your lawn. So my rationale is that it will pay for itself after the first year.

However, there is a separate dethatching attachment you can purchase for $70. It allows you to do light raking a few more times every year, which can help to justify its expense.

I also wouldn't buy a scarifier unless you have a trailer as you need to dispose of the clippings. At my house, I would normally fill my large green bin once. This scarifier will fill my larger green bin about 12 times. It's crazy how much dead grass is removed. Disposing all the grass isn't cheap either, my council charges me $65 to dispose of it.

      • +2

Very important point made here! Believe this person when they say a deep scarify makes ~10x as many bin fills as a normal mow!

        • good to note, i got two bins and just scalping filled them up

      • +1

I'd come and get it if you bagged, grass thatch waste only. Have you advertised online (FB, Gumtree, etc) & offered bags of thatch for sale? When you live in an apt. or unit, you can't have any sort of successful compost because you don't have any brown waste. Plenty of green waste (kitchen scraps) but no source for brown. This would fix that problem nicely.

        • It's a fair point, I didn't think of. I did consider slowly disposing of it over a few months with the help of my neighbour, that would have been a possibility that would have been free.
