the compatibility is confusing, i ended up getting a 3rd party pencil/stylus from amazon for $20 (for my 10th gen ipad), and it works good enough.
bought once. $130 pencil doesn’t even work on paper.
Its an Apple pencil, why would it work on paper? Its made for writing on apples.
for $130 I expect it to do everything.
Even make you breakfast and bear your children? Also one JV is enough, please no unnecessary bolding.
Or for $6000+ you can have one that wont write on a tablet.

Have a $20 or so one from Amazon. They’re very good if you’re using them for writing. Responsive, has wireless charging etc. Most third party ones seem to have a similar feature set as there seems to be a few designs that get rebranded.
Things it’s missing is pressure sensitivity, which is something people probably want if drawing, and also the tap gesture. Also need to manually turn it on by pressing the top button where I believe the Apple one is pick up and go but that’s hardly an issue.
My one has no issue with connectivity.
So yeah, third party ones are very viable for note taking. For drawing this has benefits given the pressure sensitivity is very useful there.

As I mentioned, a lot of sellers appear to be offering the same one so might be some dollars to be saved.
Just confirm compatibility with your iPad. Using this one with a 2 or 3 year old iPad Pro.

If you have a compatible iPad and you want to draw/write on it, then yes. It's a pretty popular accessory.

Nope, you need the Pencil Pro (or USB-C version) for those.
This one works on the 2018-2023 iPad Pro's (A12X to M2), the Air 4 (A14), Air 5 (M1) and iPad mini 6 (A15).
