I own this one, never once have I heard it make any noise.

Just an FYI this model only comes with 2 PCIE cables, yet for some completely stupid reason it has 3! EPS/CPU cables.

It's advertised as having "4 PCIE connectors" but this is because they use daisy chains.

Whilst it's true each cable can tolerate 300w from the PCI socket, and GPUs can only pull 150W from each plug, a lot of people don't like to daisy chain for various reasons.

I also find it a bit sneaky of Corsair, as the previous (2018) model with same name indeed had the 3 cables.

This is only really an issue if you've got a 4090/4080/super GPU, anything less and it's fine.

      • A 4080S should be fine, it's recommended PSU is only 750W so why wouldn't a Corsair "A tier" 850W not be up to the task?

This is sort of what I'm talking about, people buying this PSU assuming it will be more than fine for a 4080S, but end up either forced to daisy chain, or buy an extra cable just to actually use it's rated capacity…

Having said that, I'm almost certain that using 2 cables for 3 plugs is going to be fine with this PSU, since the official PCIE to 12VHPWR adapter only uses 2 PCIE sockets on the PSU (2x300W=600W).

In theory, it is supposed to be enough to run a 4090 as well.

    • Good catch.
Looks like you can get at additional cable for this scenario.
      Around $30AUD though

So pay an extra $30 just to be able to use the capacity you originally paid for (without any compromises)? Feels scummy to me.

        • Very scummy

Excellent deal, I have the 750w version and it stopped working after a storm, tried my luck with the 10 year warranty and Amazon replaced it no worries.

  • Is this one of those really efficient psus?
