@alejandros: @alejandros : Perfect! If you do get to do it, please let me know. I went to 2 stores in Cranbourne and got similar answers. The online chat was telling me what OP has in the ad.

      • Sooo…. this deal doesn't work?

        • Waiting for @alejandros

Pulled the plug and got it! Will cancel tomorrow

        • +2

          Cancellation done : 526.93 Cancellation Fee + 79 (I paid that yesterday)

          • @codename47: Did you cancel with Telstra or JB ?

            • @yht: You have to cancel using JBHIFI Mobile App, go to messages and select "Billing and account" and wait for a consultant. Let them know that you want to cancel it whatever your reason is and you will get an estimated amount for early termination

  • Silly question but would the 256gb variant be total $693.90?

    • The crew asked me if I want 256gb so probably answer is yes

    • They ask for $80 more when you opt for 256 gb variant (as oppose to $0 for 128 GB)

  • +2

    lol, failed the credit check

    • Telstra told me that was perhaps because I just turned off the auto recharge for my pre-paid plan, and ask me to wait another few months to try again

  • I remember when a flagship Galaxy on a plan was $79, years ago.
Isn't technology meant to get cheaper?
If anything, these news phones have LESS features given we lost removable battery, sd card, and 3.5m jack

Yeap, I agree, but to be fair devices have become much more powerful and slimmer. It's amazing the technology they fit inside these things considering the size.
The battery takes up most of the room and as people demand more powerful devices, with longer run times (and remain small), sacrifices were made by chopping out some parts. Once they invent smaller but more powerful batteries perhaps could free up space for the ports to return…who knows!

      • +1

I reckon the ports are gone, but hopefully with structural batteries (there are already batteries embedded in carbon fibre in research labs) we'll get wafer-thin devices

I remember when you could get flagship phones for free on $39 per month plans. Those were the days.

  • Is this carrier locked to Telstra..?

    • +1

Was in store and they said no its not locked

  • Tried to stack with the $30 off $300 bill but failed. Damn it.

    • Stack what, you don't need to pay anything upfront except for the monthly plan fee to Telstra

      • Stack with this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/869984. Got a friend said he successfully did it.
$1100 GC issued from Telstra, so technically we're still buying the phone at $1087 or $1187 for 256GB.

        • You can get the 128g for 0 and the 256gb for. $100 as far as I know. And because $100<$300 the $30 is not applicable unless you buy other things such as screen protector, etc

  • +1

    Got mine!
Price match Bing Lee, for 256GB is $1179.
    Saved $8, better than nothing

    • With plan or outright ?

      • With the plan, but pay less in-store to cover the difference.

For the 256GB S24FE, the benefit of the $79 plan is getting $1100 off, so price matching is still worth considering

        • Ok thanks

  • Can this be cancelled through Telstra pr does it have to be through jbhifi?

    • JBHIFI Mobile App only

      • After requesting cancellation, it says in the app:

Please be advised that remaining balance for the device will appear as lump sum on the next bill. (If applicable)

  • Can anyone who has already purchased this share the SIM config of the device? Dual physical SIM with option of eSIM?

The specs on the page say "Nano SIM + eSIM"

    • I have Nano Sim (physical) and there is an option to add e-Sim

      • Is there only space to put one physical SIM?

        • +1

yes, correct. Only 1 slot for physical sim.

  • 1 esim or 2 esim?

    • You can store multiple eSIMs at a time

      • ….but only one eSIM active at any given time.

        • I think Samsung now support dual eSIM, as of the Galaxy S24 series

… but I was just answering the vaguely worded question..

          • @illumination: Interesting on whether this will work on Australian models. I don’t have one to test unfortunately.
