They're really having to discount tickets to get people to watch the Joker 2?

    • +4

Box office looks pretty meh. At this point it might be about how much money it will lose.

Such a shame, like with Mad Max Furiosa, it has killed any chance of a big budget followup. Mad Max was only in that movie for a few seconds…

        • +17

Furiosa was a brilliant film though, unlike Joker 2. If anyone likes action or SciFi films and hasn't seen it, make sure you watch furiosa on your tv.

          • +2

@The Almighty Dollar: yeah I liked it. Had a Saturday morning cartoon vibe to it, which I guess all Mad Max movies do. Like it's all very silly, but kind of cool, especially knowing all the cars and bikes and trucks and stuff are real.

            • @AustriaBargain: There were intentional frame rate variations in Furiousa which looked 💩 and drove me crazy. Really took the immersion away.

      • +3

        I really loved The Substance.

      • Heard it's sht movie not sure why people would pay full price. I wouldn't watch even it was for $8, oh forgot booking fee is $1.70 too

    • +15

Basically renting a seat to sleep in for 2 hours

      • +20

        Hello fellow parent

    • +10

Don't even want to watch it for free

      • +7

Need to pay me to watch that again. Real joker.

5 people in the cinema, 2 were on the phones while the other 2 were sleeping.

        • +19

          The other died of boredom

    • +4

      It’s getting terrible ratings.

    • +4

I've seen Joker 2 and it is truly is awful. Cinemas will have to start paying people to see it.

    • +2

Someone can't read - "to celebrate with HOYTS 115th B'Day Offer"

  • +2
  • will the discount apply to in-store?

    • +1

Yes I asked them today and they said you don't need to book and it will be all weekend.

  • +7

Xtreme being 62.5% more expensive is pretty wild.

I don't even know what the point of Lux is anymore given standard has reclining seats and in some theatres, in-theatre dining.

    • +5

Some people feel better when they pay more.

    • Not that wild? The screen is so much larger. Some cinemas it’s basically imax size. Sound is superior. Seats are usually better.

Lux price seems wild though. But if you want a more intimate experience with even better seats. And also tables to eat your expensive food at.

  • -2

Standard being $8 and Xtreme being $13 is just crazy.

    • Good or bad crazy?

      • +5

Extreme is awesome for the correct movie, so $13 is good crazy imo

  • +9

Might go back and watch The Wild Robot again then, absolutely spectacular film

    • +1

      Just saw it. Was good.

    • +2

I saw Joker this weekend just gone, and Wild Robot the weekend before.

Quite the contrast going from a movie that great to one that terrible.

  • +1

Thanks, wanted to watch transformers one alone

  • +4

why do I have to buy Adult ticket if I ain't watching adult movies ᕙ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ

    • +1

      Terrifier 3 looks good ;)

      Should be adult enough.

    • You get them for free right. So what's the point of paying!?

  • -1

    6 months validity to use?

    • +2

It's for this Saturday and Sunday only

  • Had high expectations. Disappointed with reviews.

  • Watched Joker 2, I want my money back

    • +2

I usually don’t agree, I just like the movie going experience. But yeah this time my wife and I both came out saying ‘Well that was a waste of time.’

  • +5

Joaquin Phoenix was not the joker, the real joker was me who decided to watch this movie.

    • +2

Real joke is on Warner Bros. While I'm pissed off at wasting my time and money on this steaming turd, at least I only lost about 15 bucks and a couple of hours. They're losing hundreds of millions, and they deserve it.

    • +3

Mom said it’s my turn to copy and paste this comment on the nth forum.

  • Is Alien Romulus still playing son?

    • Eagerly waiting for it to become available to stream.

      • What's the steaming date and which platform my guy?

        • most likely Disney plus because all the alien movies are on there. disney owns Alien franchise afaik.

    • Not all cinemas, but yes. It's still playing at
      Melbourne Central.

  • Not so popular take: I found the original Joker not to my taste. The directing and acting were good, but the anti hero stuff that becomes canon to live by for the basement types in reddit… Just not my thing.

Perhaps if no one cared about the movie after the fact I'd like it more.

    • +3

Maybe you'll like the sequel better, then, because I can guarantee you that nobody will give a sh*t about it after it's gone :P

    • +8

That’s an odd take, so your view on the movie was influenced by other people caring about it?

      • Agree with the odd take stance. Also just didn't get into it as much as hivemind I guess

  • +1

fell asleep watching this paying full price!

  • Reviews saying it’s an abomination. I don’t get these entertainment companies making content for everyone apart from the main customer. Is losing money the fashionable thing these days??

    • +2

The movie is so bad, and the ending is just awful, that some people online are speculating Todd Phillips deliberately made the movie terrible because he was dismayed that many viewers sympathized with Arthur Fleck in the first movie. I don't know if I agree. I would favour incompetence over deliberate malice.

      • Imagine remaking Taxi Driver/King of Comedy and being surprised people sympathise with the Travis Bickle/Rupert Pupkin analog. How out of touch is Hollywood these days?

  • Apparently, according to De Niro, anyone who doesn't appreciate this film is crazy. Hollywood knows best, you should all just listen to reason please.

  • Any way to bank this as a voucher or it's only for the weekend?

  • Anyone who takes time to go see this….the jokes on them!

  • Think I can get Sonic 3 tickets with this?

    • You can't :(

  • So is the deal only for Joker 2, or any movie at Hoyts this weekend?

I can't find anything about the deal on Hoyts website or Facebook.

  • -1

don’t know why a bunch of people don’t seem to know this and are still on the fence about watching the joker. IT’S A MUSICAL! 😂

there is already a meme going round which basically says “let’s put lady Gaga in it and make it a musical!”.

I love musicals but not really interested in super hero movies. people who love regular movies usually hate musicals. like so much if you start playing one in front of them they will walk off.

  • +1

This anime fan plans to see the new My Hero Academia film!

  • -1

Hollywood movies are cheap jokes, cheap propagandas.

  • Thx OP, booked bollywoood movie show for Saturday.

  • I got this error message when trying to book online "Sorry, an error occured fetching tickets. Please try again."

    • Me too, thought it might be adguard but nope

  • I’m wondering if you can just turn up and buy $8 tickets in person to avoid the $1.70 fee per ticket?

    • +1

      Don’t see why not.

    • Yeah except you might not get the seats in time for popular movies. $1.70 is a rort I agree but that's the aussie tax we always have been paying

      • +1

Just finished watching Beetlejuice. Paid $8.04 using credit card at the counter.

  • +1

    Nothing worth watching.

    • It's a good option to take kids out for wild robot or transformer one

  • Got tickets to Terrifier 3

  • +1

    Thanks for deal OP

Booking fee $1.7 per ticket is still a rort.

It should be $1.7 per booking not per ticket
