This price is getting a bit more reasonable… For comparison the 12 Black was selling for $487 from TGG-eBay in Nov last year…

Don't panic buy, there's a good chance it will be lower with the sales next month ;)

(Edit: to add… TGG is probably one of the best places to buy from, they're good with ACL warranty and such, I returned an 18 month old Gopro 8 for replacement a few years back, no issues at all, and I'll return my 12 to them in the next week or so due to the USB-C being a bit dicky… DON'T buy direct from Gopro, by all accounts they're a nightmare to deal with for warranty issues… )

  • This or Action 5?

  • +1

GoPro kinda going downhill/stagnating. Everyone is jumping ship to other brands.

For example, Action 5 just came out, and has new features like depth sensor, way better night time recording and almost double the battery life/processing speeds.

Yesterday the good guys ebay sold the gopro 11 mini for $144, it was all gone within 1 hour. Unfortunately I didn't get to it in time.

    • I have a variety of action cameras (Gopro, Sony, Insta360, Runcam) through out almost 2 decades but yet to own a DJI action cam. I think I am similar or I maybe lazy and just use the GoPro video without much post production. The Gopro has been the most vibrant straight out of the camera but has always under performed with low light (this is why I have the Sony's). My personal opinion looking at the video from the GoPro's through out the series, I really haven't been happy with the "upgrade/update" of the video since about the GoPro 6. I probably still use my GoPro 5 the most as it feels the most reliable and it's good enough that people don't seem to really notice the difference.

Having a look at the latest DJI action 5 video, it looks much better now both during the day and at night. The dynamic range looks superior and doesn't have the previous (what I would describe) over sharpened look. Looking at youtube battery tests, the Action 5 battery lasts a long time and I haven't heard of it randomly shutting down (yet). I was really hoping for an Action 5 deal to come up before my next trip but I might just buy one at the maximum discount I can get at the time.

    • Ive been using GoPros for years and while quality is good (with good lighting), reliability is an issue.

I have battery drain issues to the point where i need to take the battery out of the GoPro otherwise the next time i press record, good chance I'd be on 0% battery.

I have other issues as well like lock ups and etc but anyhow…

With all the parts being similar and working with next model and so on, makes it easy to upgrade. But upgrading… what am I upgrading for? Video quality still kinda the same for years and low light is still piss poor.

And now with the new GoPro 13, they released new accessories and batteries (where you will need to purchase it all again due to different sizing)… making it even more attractive for people to switch to other brands lol

Why stick with a failed/stagnant product? I'm moving on and already have.

Other brands are excelling in the action cam and 360 cam, which I've already taken up and loving. No more battery drain or reliability issues.

        • i disabled wifi and gps and voice control to prevent the battery drain but yeah doesn't help at all. doesn't happen to everyone but it's a common GoPro issue

and low night recording is important for me. no I'm not using it to record pronos but rather night time fishing

with the GoPro, whenever it's low light, goes to mud quality. doesn't happen on the other brands

  • So whats the best storage card for this?
