    500 or 700ml?

    • 500ml

  • Not much information on your website. Are these 700mL bottles? 500? Something else?

Tasting notes are on the site Mike. The Jarrah is quite unique. I compare it to a Japanese whisky because it is so clinical, but it is still quite different (like all our single malts and whiskies). It has a pear nose, slight melon flavour with malt and vanilla and is generally sweet, but not sherry sweet. A touch of cinnamon on the back of the tongue. Its very smooth and easy drinking. Jarrah gave me the idea of using Aussie hardwoods. I was burning a jarrah sleeper on a fire and could smell…. cinnamon.

  • Looks about 200ml

  • Yeah 200ml im guessing

This page mentions the Jarrah is 500ml-

500ml gents. Sorry for not being clear.

    • Considering the lack of aging and it not being classified as whiskey, what's with the relatively high cost?

  • What is the abv %?

  • +1

Out if curiosity, what is the actual age? And how much is the angels' share?

“Our (patent pending) accelerated maturation cubes, built from these unique Australian hardwoods, have a much higher wood-to-liquid volume than a barrel, so more wood equals more flavour and the colour of a 10-year-old single malt whisky in months.”
I mean, should be just a few months old?

      • +1

Has to be a minimum of 2 years in Australia

        • +1

That's to legally call it whisky right?

I didn't have a hard look at the website, but it seems like the product pages don't actually use the word.

That's for Whisky. Not "Single Malts"

          https://www.smh.com.au/national/whisky-business-the-120-year…

Article mentions 8 weeks for Goodradigbee. Not sure which products this applies to.

          Modernised moonshine

Can also be as little as 2 weeks based on other distillers mentioned

@StevieRay: Starward's no better. We get ripped off in Australia where ageing is "not a thing" but paying more than well-aged Scottish for only a 500ml bottle is very much a thing. The only NAS worth risking is Japanese because they get it right so often. If you wanna take the risk, $100 for 1L Aussie delivered seems a bargain, but have no idea how good or bad this is. Not gonna risk it myself.

  • Happy to role the dice to support an Australian producer. With two bottles, you can at least celebrate or commiserate the gamble with a friend for purchasing an online bottle…

    • Even a bad whiskey goes ok with Coke.

    • Interesting flavour. Hints of the Jarrah wood, but also harsh on the pallette. Drinkable, but flavour feels forced. Might role the dice on some of the darker woods hoping for more complexity to the flavours…

  • Agreed on taking the gamble and seeing how it goes.

Its good to see more Aussie whiskey producers out there

    • I'm also willing to take gamble. I am genuinely curious. It was not meant to be a dig.

I also find it interesting that they've changed the wording from 8 weeks to months. Although, now I think about it, technically they are still a few days short
