Not sure I need to replace the old wood handled hammer, but this looks pretty so will surely put a smile on my face when it's hammer-time.
Just realised the 24oz version (E3-24BP) is even better value at $31.37!

Retails for over $90 and even at this price I agree it's a splurge. It is however, not the hammer / tool I would pick up for nailing.
in this day and age of nail guns
This post is about a Ballpeen hammer, not sure what metal work you're doing with a nail gun.
perfectly functional hammers priced at around a quarter of that.
If that is all you want in life, then sure, but professionals require more than that, people that appreciate a good tool want more that that and that is what Estwing is aimed at.
FYI, I am neither of the above, a perfectly functional hammer will be fine for me, to add to the collection of hammers that get rusty and go missing. But I am not myopic enough to think that there aren't people who supersede my needs.
You said it right there OP. I'm 'not sure' why anyone would need to pay ~45 clams for a hammer, in this day and age of nail guns and perfectly functional hammers priced at around a quarter of that.
