These usually only get down to $2.00 when they're on sale, so I thought 50% off was worth a post.
The home brand version is $1.25 if you're not fussy. ;)

For such a basic biscuit, the home brand ones taste exactly the same, no point in spending the extra.
I notice a difference. I hate the homebrand version.
Damn right!!!
They are made in the same factory
Doesn't mean squat. The HB version uses "Natural Butter Flavour" whereas the proper version uses actual butter.
@OzBrogains: Are you sure? I think there is more Vegetable oil rather than butter.
I have eaten them side by side the homebrand are worse, but when not eaten side by side it's nowhere near as noticeable.
They are an alright biscuit but they miss out on butter which Arnotts have. Cheaper items tend to substitute stuff like this to make them economical.
Also, the Arnotts one has 2.25x the sugar content of Homebrand Scotch Fingers.
I wonder how much that effects the flavor difference between the two?
Estimating from the ingredient list and 'quantity per 100g', Arnotts is most probably 10% butter content.
Arnotts Scotch Finger is 250g packet, so ~25g butter.
Homebrand butter is $1.40/100g, so $0.35/25g.
So Arnotts is only worth $0.35 more than Homebrand.
@Woolworths Geez, how stingy are you lot that you won't add $0.35 of butter to NOTICEABLY enhance the flavor of your product?!?
The Arnott’s one is clearly better based on ingredients list alone. Why fret over 40c?
Because posting about it on Ozbargain can get virtual internet points
I like to get the virtual internet points and exchange them for real internet points that I can then transfer if I to through self-checkout for bragging points at a 1:2 ratio. It's not no risk though, because if you brag to another OzBargainer you lose the lot.
They taste the same (especially if you're dunking them in tea) and the difference is for one week while the arnotts version is on an unusually good special, normally there's a $2.05 difference. Pack a month that's $24.60 per year. Want my payid?
I've found the difference between homebrand and name brand is generally palm oil(homebrand) vs vegetable oil($$ brand) in snack foods.
oh brand ones dont use butter?
is there much difference btw palm and vege oil?
Just the extra orange hairs.
The texture is nothing like the original.
Ive been eating both of them for a long time, the home brand one taste a little bit different and is more harder, also leaves an aftertaste. Brand name one is definely better. I only buy the no brand one when the original hasnt been on special for a while.
the home brand ones are noticeably worse. I figured I would try them as they are as you say a basic biscuit, yet somehow home brand even screws that up.
If Homebrand taste the same for you it's good for you, but they don't
Seems suss, weight hasn't decreased, possibly the butter content has.
First thing I thought of like all the other arnotts products
Hallelujah !!!
@Hadranius don't forget about this deal…
Thanks ACCC
lol
Break a finger!
What is this; Blue Thunder? That scene still terrorises me 40 years later.
2019 prices wtf
Forever been my favorite biscuit, the chocolate underside variant is good too
Would be a game changer if they did it in dark chocolate
The cookie bits variant is OP, i think its exclusive to Coles
@hamishandandy
Love myself some scotch fingers or shortbread- simple ingredients of flour, butter, sugar and vanilla.
Thanks OP!
I bought both HB and A. Arnott is significantly better than HB.
Any of you break it along the centre line to make two long pieces? Makes for easier dunking.
I'd have thought most people do that? Cause I certainly do 😁
100%. Except sometimes it has a mind of its own and breaks in half perpendicular to the centre line haha.
Yes, saw those today instore. Unusual to have one variety on half price, especially a popular one.
