How to know which phone is $0 on a $99 plan? Or you have to go to the store for that?
This deal doesn't come with any plan on the $99 plan. You get the $1100 gift card instead
Well, it was nowhere for example advertised as long as i know that there's a $1800 gift card on a $99 plan yet there was couple of months ago when buying the z flip 6 256GB. The phone was paid off with a gift card. That's why I'm asking if there's a similar deal maybe going on that's unknown.
The nothing phone 2, Samsung 24 FE and the oppos likely $1100 and under. You'd still need to pay more if you want the Iphone 16 or Samsung S24.
Out of those three which is better?
When I went to the jbhifi store to get a second plan with the first one already cancelled, the staff loaded my profile and then paused with some extreme confusion.
Then he said, "Telstra doesn't let me do it". He then apologised. I suspect he just saw a record of cancellation and decided against selling a new plan (?).
Anyone could shed a light on what might have happened?
Maybe try again in a few days
Sooner or later , it catches up with you .
Just to be clear !
Wonder if its credit check? Did you ask him if he knew the reason?
Better to go to Macquarie store where you can sign up 3 times.
Hi JB HIFI telco worker here, I doubt that they said no because they saw you had just cancelled a plan. Most of us don't really care. The only times we won't put a plan through is if someone uses a fake ID or Telstra won't let us. Cancelling plans can affect how you perform in Telstra credit checks so I would say that's most likely what happened, how far did you get before they said they couldn't do it?
I feel for you guys in telco. My two local stores often have an hour wait to just speak to someone about phones or plans. Tried to buy the $1200 deal from a couple a days ago and could not get served. Second time in a couple of weeks I’ve waited an hour then left.
How long did you cancel your plan? Is your ETC payment clear?
No cancelled 10 mins earlier
What would the Early Termination Fees be for this plan? I missed out on yesterday's and cannot see in the T's and C's on the JB website what it would be for this one.
Same as always
So its always $800?
Yes
Or to be exact, $766.59
@BargainsGrabber: It actually depends if you get charged immediately or not.
Some people with other active Telstra plans were not charged upfront and got ~$800 ETC.
If you get charged upfront, then it's the $766.59.
If this keep happening, imagine one day, all the JBHIFI employees wake up with news JBHIFI have gone to administration due to the loophole people cancelling plan.
Improbable because the store credit is JB only right people have to spend it in JB
Just some notes having bought 2 phones from the last round of these:
1. Ask for any price match up front, make sure they agree on it. Manager declined my price match last time after registering for the sims.
2. Talk to telstra directly on their website chat to ask for the first month to be refunded.
3. Termination cost should be $766.56 if cancelled immediately. Not $800, or $1600 or whatever the voucher given was. CIS shows $800 but that's the max, iirc this is calculated pro-rata on first month.
bUT Im aFRaiD! HoW dOEs tHiS DEal wORK?
Lol
Just to add to
2: Best to talk to Telstra and have your new phone number(s) handy. But that only works if there are no issues with your Telstra account. e.g. I have an old Telstra account with nothing active and can't start any Telstra chat (app/website). I keep getting the message:
If you're not signed in to the My Telstra app, please sign in and message us again. For more help, you'll need to speak with someone over the phone. Call us on 132200 or if you're overseas, call +61439125109 for free from your Telstra service.
3: Some people that already had Telstra connections were not charged the $99 upfront and then got ~$800 as ETC (and didn't need to pay $99).
So termination cost calculation can be different, It depends on whether you were charged immediately at sign up or if charged at sign up.
Just to add, when talking to Telstra chat - persistence is key.
(I got the chat working again buy trying to get support for another topic)
My order didn’t go through yesterday because of VIC Roads issue. The JB person said he will honor 1200 GC on Sunday when I take my passport in. I
Hope he doesn’t hamstring me .
Same thing happened to me yesterday. All they need to do is changed to Australian passport and it’l go through. You don’t even need to show them the passport. I saw it happened in front of my eyes.
I got bamboozled then . I don’t see an order generated yet. Have you ?
Nah mine went through fine. I was there when the guy did it and the JB linked popped up with 3 numbers.
@nightelves: Thanks . I think the guy there went sus after I asked about cancelling
Is this same kind of deal when the flip 6 was $0 on a $99 plan? I think it was either $1100 gift card or a jbhifi voucher of $1800 towards a Samsung phone instead?
If given a chance I'd get $1800 voucher as I need a Samsung phone now.
So if I were to get an iPhone 16 with this, I port in my number on the $99 plan, get the $1100 gift card use it towards the phone, pay the $900 difference for the phone itself (based on iPhone being $2k). Leave the store, contact Telstra and have the plan cancelled and wait for the $800 cancellation fee. So a saving of about $400 on the phone itself?
What reasons do I give to cancel?
Just say want to cancel or any other trivial reason like wife said no
If you want to keep the plan yesterday’s deal was better, if you’re gonna cancel the plan yesterday’s deal was better. Hold.
