I had this kettle and it started leaking from the bottom of the transparent plastic strip on the side after a year or so. Seems like a common problem in the amazon reviews.

    • I was wondering why I always had water around the base…

      • Yes I got mine leaking from the plastic strip after a year
        Not recommended

I have this kettle. Works well. Only downside is the numbers rub off quite easily. I ended up cutting matching labels on my vinyl cutter.

    • I had the same problem with their toaster. Russell Hobbs should rethink how they do their labelling on kitchen appliances.

I've had a this kettle for a few years now and it works great. Only issue is the numbers rub off.

      What material is inside layer?
      Plastic, Glass or stainless steel?

Plastic in contact with hot water wont be great, right?
Asking as I want to replace current plastic one using temporarily since last Russel Hobbs stainless steel one died after 10+ years of use.

      • It's mostly stainless steel inside, but the cap, filter and the water measurement window are plastic

Terrific kettle. Like others said, the numbers on the base rubs off very easily.

Had this one and I put some clear tape over the numbers to prevent them from rubbing off. Works well.

  • Folks, how do you rate these kettles for noise? Some are stupidity loud when heating up. I currently have a 1 litre sunbeam and it is pretty good. The Smeg it replaced was quiet but way overpriced and the lid mechanism is way too fragile. I am also interested to hear from Carlton users on the noise from their kettles.

  • Ours died after 18 months. Was replaced under its 2yr warranty

Also had this and it blew it's electronics after about 18 months. I liked the functions, but the beeping sounds were annoying after awhile, pick it up, beep, put it down, beep, press a button, beep, water is hot, many beeps. It's worse than a reversing truck. 🤣

  • Better than Kmart kettles?

  • Had this for just over 2 years. Numbers rub off (that was after a month or so) and it now lost its lid, exactly 2 years and 2 months - i.e. just out of warranty.
I would not buy this again.
