Bought this on launch as I do all sonic games. And this one is great but a little unforgiving. Frontiers was a much easier game. But this one is more enjoyable

    • $99, ouch

It's all good. Sonic (now astro bot) is a game I play with my 4 year old. She loves them so it's no bother for those games lol.. but I wouldn't spend that for a game I want myself lol

        • Could you recommend other other switch games suitable for that age - whether co-op or single? We’ve just finish let’s go pikachu so looking so looking for our next one!

@RalphEddie: I don't play on my switch too much but super Mario Wonder is the one that I think worked really well.

@RalphEddie: Aside from Astro Bot, the Kirby games are really good for that age.

            • Kirby and the Forgotten Land - we played this together
            • Kirby Star Allies - the "friends" in the game kind of play the game for you - perfect for the little one to practice on
            • Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe - the minigames are a hit for when friends come over

@RalphEddie: Let's go pikachu/eevee created some good father & daughter moments for me with my 4, now 5 year old too.

She also loves the Mario Party Games, Kirby, Bluey, and Peppa. She's also into Pokemon Sword/Shield but a lot more intervention/help required around the storyline to get her to the next gym etc. But she's up to the final boss (Leon) - just needs to grind some more to have the right pokemon to beat him. "Let's go" is far friendlier but did prep her for Sword/Shield.

@toddwas: Thanks for the replies everyone! I’m thinking maybe Kirby forgotten lands might be the next one. We tried to move to Sword and Shield but didn’t take to it as much as Let’s Go.

Great 2D entry which imo copped some unnecessary hate at launch. Maybe because it launched so close to Mario Wonder?

Either way really solid entry that feels like a proper sequel to the genesis titles.

  • I really enjoyed this. It captured the feeling of the original Genesis/Mega Drive classic 2D games.

The ost for the boss stages sucks low quality and short in loop. How Sonic Team would not just let T-Lopes do the entire games soundtrack (like the fantastic main stages) is beyond logic.

The controls in this game finally nails it for polygon based 2d sonic. Feels similar if not the same as the mega drive/ mania classics

In case Sonic Superstars doesn’t tickle your fancy, JB Hi-fi has other PS5 Sonic games on sale @ $34
    Sonic Origins Plus
    Sonic Frontiers

    Unpublished the same post accidentally.

    • Thanks

    • Oooh I haven't got sonic origins plus yet as I have mania etc but might be a good opportunity to get it.
