AliExpress Gaming Tablet - China/Global ROM

Hi.

I need some expert guidance.

I'm looking at AliExpress for a gaming tablet. It's mostly for Roblox/Minecraft etc.

I remember seeing a while ago a 12inch Lenovo tablet that looked the business but then I got all confused when it said "china rom, no google" and another one I saw said "global rom".

I'm a self confessed idiot when it comes to this stuff. Is the ROM thing anything I should worry about? Should I just focus more on the overall specs (storage, processor, ram etc)?

And would anyone have any decent recommendations. I'm not hung up about screen size, just want something that handles Roblox gaming so my kid thinks Santa loves him.

Many many thanks.

  • If there's no Google Play (which is what I believe they mean by "china rom no google", where are you going to get apps from and how will you install them?

    • Sideload google play store

Or it might just be disabled in the settings

A lot of the Lenovo Xiaoxin tablets don't have a global equivalent so the Global ROMs are fake. A lot the sellers are pretty up front about this by mentioning how the bootlocker is unlocked, the tablet doesn't support OTA updates and apps like Netflix won't work. This listing is a good example of it.

So instead you'll want the CN ROM. Despite it saying "No Google Play" that's only partially true. Since Lenovo can't legally sell a tablet in China with Google Play it's disabled by default. Once received you must go into Settings and enable Google Play Services. Then you can either sideload the Google Play store from the Lenovo app store, or another trustworthy site like apkpure.

    • Thank you @Clear. This is an amazing explanation. I also looked back and noticed it was you who posted the original deal that sparked my interest with the Lenovo pad pro 2023. Not all heroes wear capes.

Now I need to learn what Roblox is and how it works… YouTube here I come.

    • One last question Clear please.

So I'm just looking for a tablet so my kid can play roblox/minecraft and watch youtube/netflix.

There are two that I'm looking at.

Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 2023 or the Alldocube iPlay60 Mini Turbo.

I know one of the big differences is the screen size (much smaller on the iPLay60), but it is also about $60 cheaper (not taking into accounts coupons etc).

Performance wise, are these similar in terms of gaming specs?

      Cheers

Xiaoxin Pad Pro beats the Alldocube quite significantly in performance as it's using high end CPU and GPU

        • boom, love it. you made that super easy. Thank you!

This is the one that I'll get now. Thanks again, santa is going to kick butt this year.

        • Any deals coming for Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 2023?
