If OP goes out of stock, we have a backup
I chose this store because from experience they usually don't run out of stock quickly.
I'm genuinely curious as to why it's so cheap, with it being AliExpress my only concerns is if there could be fake CPU's.
Nah, CPUs are usually genuine. You can search Ozbargain, these deals are quite popular.
You think there are any downsides to deals like these that involve getting parts from AliExpress? I think at most the worst I've seen for reviews are saying that the cpu's have been used or pins getting bent in transit.
Aliexpress has a decent return policy. Make sure to record the unpacking and installation, open a dispute if there's anything wrong with the cpu.
@doperst: In my experience, Aliexpress has the worst return policy. And the fact you record the unpacking and installation shows how bad it is. I remember ordering one of those X items for $Y and I did not receive my order and the tracking number was invalid. I contact support and they simply refused, saying that I had to meet with the Post Office instead (I already had) and could not help me at all. Thankfully I was out about $5 but it put a soured experience from buying from Aliexpress for about 15 months. Since then I have made another 3 orders which were successfully delivered and working so my experience might be unique.
Worth it to upgrade from a 3800x? Been keeping an eye for 5800x3d deals but haven't seen any.
Same here. Currently rocking a 3600 and been eyeing something with more cores mainly for productivity tasks (development/VMs etc.).
Very hesitant to invest in an upgrade without knowing if the increase in performance would really be noticeable going from 3600 > 5700x/5800x.
If your productivity tasks are able to utilise more cores and you're less interested in gaming then the 5700X is perfectly fine, as they won't benefit much from increased cache. A 5700X can be overclocked to be more like a 5800X anyway. Similarly a 5950X isn't going to better at gaming than the 5700X3D due to the smaller cache and less games utilising a large amount of cores.
Is this worth a buy if I've already got the non-3D 5700X?
It's worth checking out game benchmarks to see. A lot of poorer optimised games are going to benefit from the increased cache. While some titles will have only a few fps.
Ordered a CPU from Aliexpress and was sent and arrived in AU, clear customs but now come up with the following

CainiaoDelivery attempt unsuccessful.Delivery delayed due to local delivery restrictions
Dont know what restriction there is? anyone seen that before?
I got a similar message ordering from overseas before, not aliexpress though but maybe it applies to you. The postage service they went with gave me that as the only update and when I contacted them after almost a month of no updates I found out that it was sent to the post office waiting to be picked up.
no tracking on auspost.. no card. to me looks like they didn't even try to delivery as time is before 7am. guess I will try the local PO
