Maximum dad core and I love it

V4s are great shoes and this is a great price

    • +1

Amazing shoes but 990s were never over $180 once upon a time. I've picked up v3s and v4s for as low as $130 direct from NB.

      • Absolutely, I know what you mean mate but those days are long gone. This is a great price by todays standards.

      • Are you referring to the made in USA version?

  • Check sizing reviews on these, might have to size down

  • -4

Are they actually made in the USA or Vietnam?

  • +5

Everyone’s saying dad shoes however I find more and more young people rocking new balances these days.

    • +1

      Young people lack our immune

    • +3

Yes, but not in this style

      • +2

        They absolutely do

        • +1

These are more popular for young people now than 550's

      • +1

the 99x shoes probably aren't in the top 5 most popular NB lifestyle models, but that makes sense given the price. more of a IYKYK shoe, as opposed to the 9060 or 530 that women are buying at suburban shopping centres

  • +3

Made in USA hence the higher price. Not worth it.

    • -3

      Better quality though.

      • -4

        nah same shit

        • +2

NB uses better materials for the Made in US and UK models. Great pigskin suede

          • +2

@beltdrive: Better materials don’t always equate to better quality.
A lot goes into quality control systems, and for me, craftsmanship is the key.
Generally, the level of craftsmanship and dedication in the USA often doesn't measure up to that found elsewhere.

            • +1

@salin: true, take the American automotive industry as an example

      Make America Great Again!

      • +1

        Trump made China great again.
In 2024, China's semiconductor exports increased significantly. During the first two months of the year, exports surged by 28.6%,
In 2023, China’s semiconductor imports from the U.S. dropped by about 15.4% in value.

@G-rig: Copy from the future innovations of the USA?

            • +1

              @salin: Nevermind you missed it.
What do you think made in USA means and why would it be better? Do you think it's all handmade by middle aged white hard working professionals or something? Look at Jeeps, they are a pile of shit.

Will still be a sweatshop just different. They could make the premium models anywhere, it's just sales and marketing to get you to part with your hard earned.

              • +1

                @G-rig:

Will still be a sweatshop just different.

AFAIK the US workers are unionised and the factories are based in Massachusetts, not some factory on the southern border employing illegals

    • They expensive due to American slave labour in use, having said that, they are super comfy compare to standard NB.

  • Thank you, getting harder to find deals on New Balance shoes. I've had the V4 for about 6-7 years and they're still holding up with regular use.

I ended up buying the 990 V6 to try using the code (down to $170 from RRP340) but only size 12 and 13US available.

I wish the navy ones were on sale

    • +1

Great price, but I already have the Grey Day cw

  • How is NB sizing compared to Adidas? All my runners have been from Adidas for the past few years but finally considering trying other stuff.

    • +3

Go TTS for what you normally would for an athletic shoe. I have the same size as I did for my Ultra Boosts. Though the 990 V4 have a wide toe box so you may want to go down half a size if you have more narrow feet.

  • Dads don't spend this much money on shoes that are going to get worn out pretty quick. This is dad-chic.

  • My costume as Steve Jobs is ready

  • +1

I got a pair of ASICS NOVALIS Gel-Teremoa Snow White for $225

  • -2

    MADE IN USA? NAH..

  • +1

    width 2E availble?

  • RRP 340 wow when did this happen? are they even that good for running, or indeed just comfy dad dailies?

    • +1

I have the 990 v6. They are the comfiest shoe I have ever owned

    • +1

Noone would wear them for running, they are fashion dad shoes. Just get some kt26 or volleys and you'll be even cooler.

    • +1

      when did this happen

the price has crept up as New Balance has become more popular in recent years

other athletic brands like Salomon and Asics sell sneakers in the $300 range too, and they're made in Asia
      https://salomon.com.au/collections/sneakers?sort=price-desce…

      https://www.asics.com/au/en-au/mens-sportstyle-shoes/c/au102…

      • indeed, they have bumped up

I guess there may be some sense in such prices if you're getting those mad running shoes with titanium spring in them etc

also not sure if Made in the USA is meant to guarantee better quality these days, I guess it will guarantee higher price for sure :)

  • +1

Just so you know, the shoe costs $17 to make.

    • +1

This is why the KT-26 needs to come back

  • +1

Weapons are the only things that USA are good at making, shoes….lol

    • Vietnam and Thailand are good at making shoes clearly. I would never buy a yank tank unless you lived over there and they were very cheap.

  • My last pair of New Balance shoes lasted me like 15 years

  • +2

I swear people are just making up RRP's now.

The sweatshop workers are still on the same measily wages.

Just taking advantage of a different minority instead.

    • The price is what the market will usually bear.

  • +1

Amazing shoes, just got mine today.

Unironically, my dad wants a pair now too. A shame the sale isn't still on.

  • That's good feedback, so they are dad shoes!
I'm sure they would be comfy anyway.

  • Mine arrived today and I'm sad to say these fit tiny compared to my 2002R…I was so excited for these to arrived, too.
