More knipex on special. These seem to be at a pretty good price (maybe ATL?).
These have been very well reviewed online and in past deals. Looking forward to replacing my old shifter!

Not ATL. I paid $58 for these back in April.

Just be aware that these are quite small. Even though the size of 180mm is clearly stated, I didn’t expect them to be as small as they are.

    • Do you rate them or would you go for the 250mm?

      • If you don’t need the bigger size then they are great. But if you usually need to work with larger sized bolts, etc then go the bigger size.

Ideally you will want to have both sizes to have a more complete set. I’m waiting for when the larger size will go on sale so that I can have both.

        • Ok, I'll keep an eye on the larger ones

      • 180s are good for tight spaces, i.e. doing up water connections under the kitchen sink

But 250's are a lot more useful. Just grab them both

got these for $46.53 back in October last year and the plastic handle 250mm version for $54.33 in July better deals to be had but still a Shiteload cheaper than local.

On a side note I much prefer the plastic dipped handles more than the comfort grip for this particular tool as found the comfort grip a lot more difficult to maneuver. But each to their own.

  • Just a FYI, these are not designed to replace a shifter. Two different tools.

You say that, but since getting my Pliers Wrench I haven't used a shifter except when my pliers Wrench wasn't available

I haven’t picked up my shifter in the two years I’ve owned these.

    • im just a diy-er so curious when you would use a shifter over this? Is it more if you don't want to mark/damage the fitting if its also for decorative purposes (eg. a shower head)?

    • Edit: apologies I thought these were multigrips. Carry on using your shifter replacement :)

  • How do things like Amazon Germany via AU or US via AU work?

I have bought a few of these deals before and they were fine, some arriving in two weeks and Japan one took two months but it was expected.

and then I have seen other things from Germany or US and they have not come
what would happen is they would have the free Amazon prime shipping ( average 6 to 12 days or whatever)
and then there would be a paid shipping $100 and a date say Oct 10.

So I would order the free prime shipping international and it would say order received. I would never get a shipping date on it and it would never say shipped.

After a week or two weeks I would call or message with support and they would say there's something wrong with the order, cancel it and order it again. Well they have checked and it's actually out of stock ( but the page will say a small number like 5 in stock)

so I would cancel an order again because it's still $10 cheaper than buying from here.

rinse and repeat and I would have nothing after a month at which time I would give up.

I dunno normally it works just like Aus Amazon but maybe a week or 2 longer.
Order -> forget you ordered -> receive surprise in mail

    Just bought. No idea why.

I would actually pick up the 250mm version with plastic handles for cheaper:

  • I have a cheap one from Bunnings. Is it same or what is difference, I don't know.
