  • I read that it’s a nightmare to switch between devices if there are multiple users (e.g. two drivers using the car) and it wants to keep connecting to the last device even if the other device wants to connect. Can anyone comment who is using it? I read that CarlinKit doesn’t have this issue as it shows a pop-up on the screen and you can click on which device to connect.

    • I have 2. Not this model but a different one of AliExpres. They were about $30ea.
We just swap the dongles when we change drivers. Much easier for us.

    • Just turn off Bluetooth on the other one first before you start your car, the device always remember the last one connected.

    • It's not too bad. When it boots, it shows a loading screen where you can choose which device to connect to. It only displays for a few seconds, and then it loads the previously connected device. If you miss the loading screen, then you can just restart the unit by unplugging/replugging it.

$77 again and if your hud doesnt have wireless its low spec junk anyway, get a replacement unit.

  • Will this work with an AX1000?

    • Is that a Hyundai or a Ford? I can’t keep up with all these new car model names.

(This plugs into a CAR with CarPlay/AndroidAuto via cable and makes it wireless)

      • Neither, it's a Sony head unit 😅.

Also, doesn't have to be a car, it works on a head unit as long as it has Wired Carplay functionality.

        • Sorry to original poster. Wasn’t supposed to be snarky. Thought they meant a wifirouter/modem.
These are usually designed for car systems. I haven’t tried one in an aftermarket system before. Interesting to know.

Isn’t it better to have the cable anyway since it will charge the phone?

My USB port for Android Auto is very slow charge, probably 500mA. Going wireless lets me use a fast charger whilst using Android Auto. Helpful if your car's standard USB port is low current.

  • I have the U2 Air Pro and it works great in a 3 year old JVC head unit with Carplay - very fast connecting vs the Carlink II I have in a 2020 Corolla (with integrated Carplay support) which takes forever to boot. Always connects and very reliable - I would pick this over the Carlink unit anyday.
Haven't tried multiple users as I'm the only driver - the Carlink unit gives you a menu to choose the phone on boot - you have about 3 secs before it defaults to last used phone (the only good thing about it). U2 Air Pro has no issues with iOS 18 either.

  • I got a Xuda brand dongle from AliExpress for around $28 and it works flawlessly with single iPhone.

Everything works normally on the CarPlay and it is super quick to connect. Only difference compared to wired connection is that changing songs on Spotify takes maybe 0.5 seconds compared to 0.25 seconds using the wired connection.

  • I rather pnp to my rav4 thab this. 2in1for nav and charge.

  • Bought my wife this model and it works flawlessly . 2022 Impreza and pixel7 . Also bought a wireless charger mag cradle so it all works really well .
Can't comment on changing phones as no one else drives it .

    • Can't be this model, as it's only for Carplay. You probably got the Android Auto version from the same brand.
