FYI if you put the product in the tag, it automatically generates a Price History 3XC link under the post/above the tag.

    • It should be in tags, I added it

Edit: It has generated the link, last drop was the $149 deal posted here.

      • I only mentioned it because you edited the post to include the 3XC link. But now I realise you didn't actually link the product in the 3XC link you gave.

Oh yeah just wanted to credit as I found it on their 'daily drops' page :p

For once it's not a phone case

  • +20

It's so cute maybe one day it will grow into a real soundbar.

    • When I'm older I want to be a Bose Smart Sound Bar 600

      • +2

        Not a fan of soundbars

Soundbars don’t have fans normally.. may be you can be the driver instead

    • +1

Could use it as a monitor speaker.

      • I'm currently using a Tronsmart bluetooth speaker my TV speakers are that bad. This should hopefully at least be better.

At worst, less bass heavy for no reason (great little bluetooth speaker for music but not for a TV)

  • +4

Same price at TGG, but if you click "Price Check" it will offer $142

    • Reportpost so mods can update as cheaper, didn't know the price beat was automatic

I'll do it, there's no report button for that xD

Delivery $18 for me so Amazon cheaper, but I'm regionalish

  • +8

    No hdmi

    • Rather useless then

      • +1

        Has optical though right??

  • +9

Bought and returned in the past.. This thing is horrible. It's worse than regular speakers, you'd be better off picking one up from Aldi.

    • really that bad?

I copped one hoping to replace a Tronsmart Element Mega for my TV

      • It isn't that bad. The sound is cleaner than any soundbar around this price.

No HDMI is pretty limiting though.

    • Yep did the same

    • Same, I returned it back to Amazon as it makes little difference with the TV speaker (Sony)

    • Disagree. Big improvement on the tinny speakers on my new TCL 48" in the bedroom.

  • +2

If you have the space, a set of cheap bookshelf speakers is a massive step up from a cheap soundbar, I use these and love them ($159 shipped):

No HDMI, but has optical/bluetooth and some other inputs

    • +1

Agreed but parents complain about the bass, buying for them

      • +2

Those Edifiers aren't bass heavy. They're very balanced I find. They are my PC speakers.

        • Actually being studio monitor-style they should be quite balanced yeah, my parents just complain about any bass though.

Must be going deaf in the higher frequencies lol

          • @Dyl:

Must be going deaf in the higher frequencies lol

Bass is lower frequency though. Plus, super low frequency bass isn't heard as much as it's "felt".

            • +3

@CocaKoala: Deaf in the higher frequencies, meaning they need it louder to hear voices / etc, meaning the bass is too loud for them

        • +2

          Also the bass is adjustable

          • +1

@andresampras: The remote is pretty bad though. Mine broke after a couple of years of barely any use.

            • @theguyrules: you can set them up with universal remote control

              • @Ryxxi: Yeah I've not needed to for my setup thankfully.

          • @andresampras: How easy is it to adjust? Elderly friendly?

            • @Dyl: It should be a single knob- it is on mine.

            • @Dyl: Depends on which model you get but my R1280DB and the 1855 mentioned above both have a physical dial for bass

    • Edifier is best under 400

Purchased this a few days ago from Amazon for $147. Arrived next day and I’ve been using it in my photography studio (6m x 8m) for background music. Unexpectedly decent bass for such a small unit. Decent quality sound given price and size. Covers the space well for music but is about as good as tv speakers for watching tv/movies.

  • Anyone know how this sounds compare to a soundlink mini/mini 2? I have heard one of those they are decent for the size and money I would expect this to be better.

Could this replace a soundlink if it was better sounding? Can you Bluetooth or cast directly to it?

    • +1

Reviews mention bluetooth from phone so assume so

  • +2

using this on my PC atm. perfect for what it is and the price at $150 is crazy good.

    • +1

Makes you miss the Logitech Z623 deals though… $63 for those was a steal.

      • +1

i rather this sounbar tbh. the amount of extra space you get is crazy haha. my desk looks so much more tidy now

    • +2

Using this for my PC too after getting it a few days ago from amazon. So far I've been very happy as it replaced a google max speaker I was using a s speaker for a couple of years. My desk feels so roomy.

The main reason you’d get a soundbar is for the extra surround channels and processing beyond the standard stereo which helps to isolate sounds like voices and detail and with virtual direction so you can watch content easier. This has none of that and is essentially useless.

Unless you’re looking for a cheap stereo Bluetooth speaker, do yourself a favour and save up for a Sonos beam Gen 2 or similar because they are genuinely life-changing, it’s like having a mini cinema in your living room.

Otherwise just stick with your TV speakers.

    • +1

Depends on the TV, these are at least 50w of speakers. I wouldn't be surprised if some TVs have 5-10w and think that's fine

      I agree though I prefer with a sub and/or full 5.1 too

  • Bought one of these for my PC earlier this year for $100 more and have been really happy with it. Not sure for a TV unless you're on a tight budget/very small room.

  • I have one of these on a spare tv. Much better than tv speakers.

  • Why don't Amazon price match TCG lol

    • +1

Amazon does what Amazon does, they don't price match anyone

      • Right. I feel this can be down more upcoming Black Friday. I can hold. Thanks for posting.

        • +1

Prime day you mean? Amazon will have something then

Amazon does its own thing, they're big enough they don't need to compete for a single sale

  • No HDMI or ARC etc on this one, just optical, coax and aux. I personally don’t want a soundbar without HDMI, but besides that this seems like a good deal.

    • What's the difference between HDMI and optical? Beyond convenience for certain use cases, is there a digital difference?

      • +1

No. But online review says must have hdmi so everyone just repeat what people said online.

        • Not necessarily. Optical is great so long as you have something that outputs it. But not everyone does…

  • Thanks! Picked one up for the study.

  • why not buy these ? i got them, designed and 3d printed some wall mounting brackets and have them setup to work with the lg c4 remote control.

    • Those are 21W + 21W, this is 50w total

The idea of soundbars is there's differing speaker sizes in them for differing frequencies (which those have too), so they make sense. What you linked is just going to have better bass but worse mids and highs (even though it does have treble speakers in it), plus not as loud at 21w

Personally I agree though, I prefer 2.1 over soundbars but Logitech Z623 is $200 on sale these days - not ~60-100 like it use to be. This price is actually about the cheapest decent sound you'll get currently… Just sadly it's a soundbar.
