“20gbps” ONLY works with USB3.2 Gen2 x2. Which is very rare on devices. So don’t expect this to just work anywhere….

    If you don’t know you USB3.2 Gen2 x2, you likely don’t I think.

I thought anyone getting something like this would know that :D I have tested it on my other ports as well and got ~1000 read / ~500 write.

USB is both forward and backward compatible - it will absolutely work anywhere, even an old-school A-type USB 3 port. It'll just work at 5Gb if that's all the port can do.

You really shouldn't quote things out of context because then you'll get it wrong. Larsson is correct. If your device doesn't support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 then you're not going to get 20Gbps and it's not going to work at those speeds anywhere. Instead at 10Gbps.

To give you an idea how Gen 2x2 is skewed. Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 don't support it and they're newer standards.

          That's exactly what I said 🤷🏼‍♂️

We're all on the same page here - it'll work in any port you choose, but only at the speed of that port 😁

          • @Nom: Sorry don't mind me then lol

          • @Nom: Except that I was going to buy it based on your comment of being forwards compatible because I figured it would work at 20Gbps with my USB 4 laptop. Clear's comment cleared that up for me (pardon the pun).
