Hi Guys,

Noe: Guys, Please Call Dominique (0414465138) directly From Euro Solar for the offered price and referral credits, if you contact the 13 number or any other rep the prices will be different and no credit applies.

Got a call from Dominique - Euro Solar in this morning, Apparently they are having another deal for two days, Almost $1000 off from the original price, but it is slightly different than the last time system cost $100 more but after all the referral credits you will get it $100 less than the last time, secure your one before govt cut the rebates by 50%.

http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/86232
Its not a dupe of the original as the prices and reference credits are different than the last time.

A 3KW system (250W Ameri solar panel, made in USA + Delta, German Designed) Advertised price $4999, deal price $3870, Final price $3790 installed after the $100 reference credit + $100 cash cheque from my reference credit

A 3KW system (250W Ameri solar panel, made in USA + SMA SB3000TL-20 made in Germany) Advertised price $5499, deal price $4550, Final price $4450 installed after the $100 reference credit + $100 cash cheque from my reference credit

A 5KW system (250W Ameri solar panel, made in USA + Delta, German Designed) for $6999 installed after the reference $100 credit + $200 cash cheque from my reference credit

A 5KW system (250W Ameri solar panel made in USA + SMA SB3000TL-20 made in Germany) for $7690 installed after the $100 reference credit + $200 cash cheque from my reference credit

They offer 30 years performance warranty on their panels opposed to other retailers offer 25years
SMA inverter has built in bluetooth for PC monitoring, comes with 5year warranty
Delta inverter comes with 10 year warranty
They also offer 10 year installation(workmanship)warranty on their installation.

Please Call Dominique (0414465138) directly From Euro Solar and ask. He is the rep doing this deal, so if you are calling the 13 number you will not be able to get the offer and reference credits.

They have a referral system, I have already signed up for the last deal, so as a fellow ozbargainer if you please mention my name both of us will get a credit. my name is "Anand Ramakrishnan".

This time they increase my referral credit to double, but I am happy to give you a half of my credit, I think that is a fair deal for both of us. So at the end your 3KW system will cost only $3690 for you

They also offer a $2000 holiday voucher with every order to use across australia, not really know the terms and conditions for this.

Its not in there website as the deal is only done by dominique for two days, If anyone having troubles to secure the above price please contact me, I can contact him and ask.

Guys, when you are sending the PM please PM with your email address and name.

From the last deal some of the systems are already been installed, mine scheduled for 17th dec.

  • Are Amerisolar panels really made in the USA, or is the company just headquartered there? What do the labels on the panels themselves say?

Looking at Amerisolar's web site, there is no actual mention of "Made in USA" panels, just vague copy about headquartering and the company being American. One would think if the cells and panels are actually American made it would be splashed all over the web site as a major selling feature.

  • on first name basis now eh ;)

not bad, such a shame it wasnt around when the 25 pfit was around though… would have got something like this rather than my 1.9 system…

    • so when the govt rebate reduced the companies reduce the system price, its all marketing. but it would be nice to have 25c or even 45c or 60c when its first started :), still i think its a bargain and the ROI per my calculation is around 4years

      • is that with the 16 or 8 cents? i know you where a little confused in the last post… if its in melb.. pretty sure you'll only get 8 which kills it…

get some decent deep cycles and you should be right :D

  • A 5KW system (250W Ameri solar panel made in USA + SMA SB3000TL-20 made in Germany) for $7790 installed after > the $100 reference credit + $200 cash cheque from my reference credit

    I hope this is a typo using a 3Kw Inverter on a 5Kw system.

    • certainly reach your peak early in the day

    • Sorry my mistake 5KW system with SMA is $7690, plus they will get another $200 cash cheque after the installation. I have updated it

      • +1

I think you may have misunderstood.

"A 5KW system (250W Ameri solar panel made in USA + SMA SB3000TL-20 made in Germany) for $7690 installed after the $100 reference credit + $200 cash cheque from my reference credit"

This is not a 5KW system. "SMA SB3000TL-20" is a 3KW inverter. So you may be getting 5KW worth of panels but the inverter doesn't match.

Seems potentially deceptive if not a typo and without a 5KW inverter doesn't seem like a particularly good price.

  • Any deal for a 1.5KW system?

Do they do installation here in PERTH

    • I will ask him and update soon, but my opinion is with this price better to go with a 3KW system, that will produce enough power for your systems while you are at home. 1.5KW is too small

      • As i consume only 6-7 unit [Avg Day time], i think i just need a 1.5kw

        • The prices for 1.5KW Delta $2199, SMA $2799, so better off with the 3KW system :)

        • Thanks

        • 1.5KW system isn't worth it.. Best to get 3KW at minimum. The ROI would be around about the same time period anyways plus you guaranteed decent generation during winter months.. Well in Melbourne 1.5KW in winter months generates FA something like 0.5KW, so 3KW system would definitely generate 5KW during the colder months :) I guess Perth is more sunny than here.

  • and i gues $500 cheaper for a JFY inverter with 1.5kw system

Perth : We get only 7c back when power fed back to the grid. That is the reason why sticking to 1.5

    • Over here in VIC its 8cents + i think another 8cents from the energy company, You should have the same in Perth as my knowledge is its a national rule, please call dominique and confirm. Also I dont know the quality of JFY inverter. have a look on whirlpool reviews regarding the JFY inverter and the installers offering it. Remember you need to install the system before december 31st or you will loose the govt rebate for the systems.

      • VIC 8 cents flat. Each state is different. If you check the AGL website, SA & QLD can get up to 16 cents where Vic they dont mention it at all except for the new flat 8 cents start of next year.

Best to call up your service provider to check. To my knowledge government only give you rebate on on the first 1.5KW when buying the system and feed in tariffs are at the state level with mandatory provider feed in tariff 8 cents plus what ever on top from state government depending what state you are in.

    • I was in the same mind set, but after the sum 3KW was definitely worth it..

Check these two sites http://pvoutput.org for stats on other ppls systems in your area see how much they produce during different times of the year. This is the best solar payback calculator hands down http://www.solarquotes.com.au/calc5/index.php Best to go to advance and put in fits amount 7 cents for at least 4 years.

Definitely pays to calculate than to put in a system that you may regret not going bigger.

      • Its the best calculator I have ever seen, with 3KW system 8cents feed in for 4 years and assugin system using for 30years with an electricity charge 25cents, which will go up for sure my payback is in 6 years and net savings in 30years is $56000, wow

        • Dont get too carried away.. I think from memory my saving over 25 years was $20k to $24k for a 3KW install and not factoring in teenager kids haha! one day! Make sure you use the calculator right especially with the FITS 4 year data.

    • For WA - No FiT - 0c

      • yup, no FIT from govt, but there may be some energy companies offering rebates, you better check with few energy companies as whats there offers.

        • Only ONE energy company - Synergy

      • in your cases payback in about 10 years, and about 24K savings in 30years time, for a 3KW system considering 50% generated electricity used daily, still better than nothing

    • It's now gone up to 8c since 2 or so months ago (last bill).

Be careful with the marketing hype, most places quote payback on the full electricity tariff (i.e use as much juice during the day to soak up the panels' production), rather than be realistic about daytime electricity use (i.e some being fed back into the grid).

I had a guy recently from unnamed yet well-known company try to flog a 1.5kw system for over $3k with a payback period of less than 4 years. They got argumentative when i started to explain the calculation flaws in their positioning…

      • NAME and SHAME!

  • you should probably check the rep box.

  • Ok so I am moving to a new duplex around Revesby. Would it be worthwhile for me to buy a 3kw system?

I am not sure what the whole feed in is all about. They make the whole thing so confusing with the whole credits and some places paying for your feeding in and others not.

    • Government website that explains FITS per state -

      http://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/Parliamentary_Departm…

Basically solar is really worth it if someone is at home during peak power generation times which is between 10am to 3pm.. Otherwise, you save more money by moving your power usage habits to off-peak electric supply periods.. in Vic its after 11pm.. not sure about NSW.

However if you stay at your house for 9 years the system has definitely paid off itself and the rest is just gravy up to the 25 year mark when the panels get to their lifetime.. Definitely more worth it if you have a hungry inverter style aircon which solar will offset its large power usage during the hot times of the day.. check my links above and do the calculations if you can.

Oh also its a good if you want to make sure that the power companies dont effect your usage habit.. ie if you dont like being forced to wait for off period electric supply times to take advantage of savings.. but if you move house in a few years before the ROI then the new owner enjoys it more than you.. Not for everyone best to educate yourself. Whirlpool.net.au has a decent forum.

      • Yeah this place will last us for the rest of our life I think.

So it sounds like it is worthwhile. We don't have anyone home during the week but I have several devices which are on 24/7 but they don't use much power. I am guessing since kids are probably going to happen in the future that will more than likely change.

With prices only going up it sounds like it will save money in the long term and it's good for the environment.

        • Have a look at your electric bill, you should have a daily average consumption figure there to help you calculate or record the KW used during the day for one hour between 10am to 3am.. then calculate from there. Im going to wait until I get a little older, so it serves me well into my retirement when I will be poorer.. :P I use bugger all power due to good habits but for hungry users its great!

      • the link is a nice guide, explained very well

    • Opps if your moving into duplex, then you will need to look at body corporate regulations I guess?

  • Thanks Neil

  • Is a 91.2% panel output considered good?

    • most of the panels are offering 90.2%+ so 91.2% is good

    • Everyone, sorry to rant, but… take a step back and think for a minute.

Output performance of a panel is obviously subject to individual manufacturers in-house tests, to a particular standard (i.e within their test conditions).

All the 'efficiency' tests of panels can be completely wiped away due to the tilt, angle and direction the panels happen to face, not to mention other factors such as shading if you plan to put a panel in front of a tree.

Panel efficiency is more for marketing purposes, i.e 91% vs 93% efficiency. Quality is a separate issue. I know someone who had a 1.6kw system installed a couple of years ago on a north-facing tilted roof (20-odd degrees, something standard - optimal conditions for a panel), yet a 1.5kw system i installed recently on my house on a west-facing roof (i.e only getting ~half daily full sun, non-optimal conditions) produces exactly the same if not more on the same days. I bought a cheapo 1.5kw system for $1200, compared to the others' spend of over $3k. Panel efficiency was about the same.

It depends on how you look at it - while a larger system is better overall if you have the start-up $$$ and roof area, however you can get a smaller system that will payback in a few years and hopefully continue giving from there on in and reduce bills.

Again, sorry for the rant, but i have found that places push panel efficiency as the main selling point, when is it only a minor factor in the whole process.

  • i got mine installed yesterday after a few initial hiccups but its all good now. For QLD residents be sure to read your network contract to make sure that your new inverter doesn't put you over the maximum limit otherwise you may lose your 44 cent which will revert to 8 cents. My system cost more because i already had an existing 1kw system installed. The Delta inverter seems to be designed in Germany but made in Thailand. The quoted prices seem to be good. heloanand i am not sure if i can still get a referral credit in the form of a cheque as my system has been installed and paid for? anyway if its still possible Guys feel free to PM me as well and then Ill give you my name to use as a referral too if needed.

  • Suntech
Panels are 95% and the panels are rated plus 5% minus 0%
is a tier 1 manufacturer which many claim but few are……..
    Mispost
