    unparalleled craftsmanship

    lol, what a concept.

They're saying they can't cut two lines straight and parallel with each other…

If you describe something as unparalleled, you are emphasizing that it is, for example, bigger, better, or worse than anything else of its kind.

So it could be worse than anything else of its kind.

  • these better than RMs in terms of buy-it-for-life?

    • +6

no chance - RMs are one piece of leather

      • +1

RMs are no longer made in Australia similar to Blundstone which used to be made in Tasmania.

There are numerous articles about declining quality of RM Williams and how people are flocking onto the Blundstones which happen to be popular overseas as well (Canada and France for example).

The Heritage Blundstones are Goodyear-welt boots with RRP of $449 but if you look at The Iconic they often have the Heritage lines for about $215 with limited sizes on clearance so I think its a good bargain if you can get it at that price.

Blundstones also have 30-day comfort guarantee and I've bought a pair to replace my shitty Floorsheim boots after trying them on at AussieDisposals.

I'd buy a pair of Mongrel dress boots before these, better price point, made in Australia

      • Which shops can we try on instead of the convoluted buy online and return if not comfortable ?

  • +3

Presumably made in Thailand or India 🤔

Not sure how they come up with these prices - do they price their stuff relative to RMs?

    • This style is out of Mexico, most other styles are out Vietnam or China

What does that mean? They smell of nachos?

    • +1

Yeah at this price I’d be demanding made in Australia. That’s not much less than RM on sale. Blundstone have sold out in my opinion. Like Holeproof did ten years ago (Explorers went to Bonds, made in China and the quality went down the toilet). Blundstone market themselves being Tasmanian but it’s really hard to find where they are actually made, even with the boots and box in your hand (I’ve tried). You are led to believe they are made in Tasmania but nope.

My $120 Redback safety boots are made in Australia. Bloody good too.

      • RMs abd Blundstones are no longer made in Australia.

Not all of Redbacks lines are made in Australia.

        • RM's are still mostly made in South Australia. In fact, since Forrest took over, more of their lines are shifting back to made in Austalia, including garments.

  • Marketing scam? Jack price of bunnies then removed the standard priced models?

Love Blundstone boots, wish they did this one with a steel cap though - like their 787

  • Yeah nah, I’d go the RMs for a little extra, these need to be more like $200 and then they would be good to wear on bender

When did blundstones get so expensive ?

    • Bought dress blundstones for $100 only a few years ago

      • regular dress blunnies are still great boots that last forever but the OP boots're a 'kin stupid price

        • +1

The Heritage ones are often for sale at $215-$230 at the Iconic.

    • these are the boots god wore

last me six or seven years with walking tonnage that'd wipe out the average adult human, even longer in my dotage

      • +1

Indeed. I’m still wearing mine and the almost look new!

i got the 659 I bought for $125 from Aussie Disposals 2 weeks ago and 1901 i got for $140 from The Iconic.

I can vouch for the 659 its so comfy the 1901 are a bit narrow but still comfy after all.

      • $125 for 659’s a good price

        • Yeah well the 1901 are usually $269 but i somehow managed to get the clearance from TheIconic.

If you can find some Rossi Kidmans they're a bit more money (bit over $400 I believe), they're made in Australia and they look really good. A genuine competitor to RM Williams.

These ones look alright, but who knows the quality of the leather or the place of origin?

    • +1

Rossi Kidmans are now made in India, and the quality isn’t there.

      • this’s the thing about blunnies

ok, they’re no longer made here (i’m as sad about that as anyone) but they’re still really good quality footwear

      • +1

I was told this week by a local shop that they started getting the Rossi because they were made in Australia. Makes me feel better about buying the Blundstones!
