Might want to list the store in the title

The problem with batteries is that there's always positives and negatives

    • +7

There, I gave you a like now get out

    • +3

enjoyed it. Improved by forgetting the bold. ozbargainers are smart and don't require the punchline hint. 😂🤣

      • +1

ozbargainers are smart and don't require the punchline hint. 😂🤣

I’m not. even with bold I still don’t get it.

I know batteries have + and - but why is it a problem? and funny??

        • +1

word okay. One expects a more in depth explanation to the various positives and negatives of this particular product, then we are trapped only to discover it is indeed a commentary on your precise observation about batteries.

In short, it's a Dad joke wearing evening wear.

    • +1

      Wait, this WASN'T a JV post??? 🤯

  • +12

Good for the kids and wife's toys.

    • +3

Guess the AAA sized ones just don't do enough

    • +5

I was about to ask what D size batteries are good for

      • +1

Double D the appliances always demand 2

      • +1

I have a cuckoo clock that i bought back in the 80s that needs a new one every few years. A lot of torches back then used D size batteries as well

      • 4D cell maglite. Thick heavy and long.

        • That 4D energy

  • +2

Perfect for the baton.. I mean maglight.

  • -1

They want to charge for charge? Nonsense.

    • +27

When it comes to the choking on the D you're not supposed to put these ones in your mouth.

      • +1

you can choke on the C’s too though. 😉

      • +2

Or at least, put them in the appropriate device

        • -2

          since you voted good deal.

what do you buy these for??

I don’t have single thing that needs these which is why I imply they are nothing more than a choking hazard.

@n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: My tent has a battery pack for a light that takes D sized batteries

            • @87percent: no powerbank or light system? (I recently bought 12Ah kings power pack that does both)

power bank batteries aren’t removable but at least can be recharged 500 times before capacity drops and you need to consider replacing.. (and 2500 times if LifePo like the kings)

you can also buy USB lights to plug into power bank which are very efficient.

          • +1

@n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Backup power for lights and portable radio in my caravan, much safer to store them and not worry they're going to self combust when not in use.

            • +1

@ConsumerAffairs: ok so alkaline are safer in extreme temperatures? I didn’t know that.

when I researched the Lifepo4 rechargeable type like in my kings power pack it did say they are much more temperature resistant compared to Lithium ion. you might want to look into those LifePo rechargeable.

alkaline do leak though, but I guess that’s what makes them safe? leaking is better than a fire I guess.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I have a Allpowers LiFePo4 generator that I also use and take with me and I have my assortment of LiPo power banks too. It's not that I'm against lithium but alkaline stills holds a place

    • Weird comment. You do realise that people dont just buy D size for the fun of it right? We buy them because the stuff we have needs them. I have a few items that require D batteries.

      • -3

just my honest opinion/experience shouldn’t be that weird.

like I already made it clear I don’t need any, but let’s say I’m buying something at the store. I have never even looked at a product that said it required D or C batteries.
AA and a few AAA rechargeables yes I have use for those. but D or C seems about as rare to me as the 9v battery that goes in smoke alarms (and what else?!)

so my assumption was they (especially non rechargeable) are for the few people stuck in the 1990’s with extremely old products that take them.

I commented early when there were only a few good deal votes so I’m pretty surprised now how popular this deal is. and maybe a lot of them now are just because it’s $1.

        • Your assumption is wrong. I have modern kids toys purchased this year that require D batteries.

  • -2

You can get these on Amazon, or maybe cheaper on Ebay or AE

Make use of your eneloops / laada.

    Less land fill

  • -1

    This or a moto g84?

Purchased D sized to size up my D.

  • Bought two packets last Thursday at the Bourke St store. These will go well in the big torch.

  • DDs not so popular now!

    • It’s all about the A’ss now

  • What even uses D batteries? In my experience, the only two products I've come across are baby rockers and 80's boom boxes.

    • +6

Maglights, portable aerators, Dolphin torches, portable lanterns and portable fans to name a few.
Essentially anything with a low current draw but requiring a long runtime.

    • -7

I had the same question. have nothing to power with these.

and anything I can remember seeing with these big alkaline batteries usually required like 6 of them in a row so very heavy.

I have no problem with AA’s have plenty of stuff that uses them so I have a charger and few extra spare eneloop AA’s. a couple AAA but those are rarer like only in keyboards etc and my braun sensor.

      • +8

Ok buddy, time for a lie down. You've hijacked the entire comments section because you can't work out what uses D batteries and have nothing that uses them. If anyone can make use for these batteries they can buy them, if they have no use for them they can move on with their life, like what you should do.

        • -5

I was responding to guided light not any of your comments.

maybe it’s what you should do since you feel the need to answer for other users (how do you know what guidedlight thinks about my reply?).

tbh I think it’s rude when people feel the need to insert themselves when they weren’t even the one being responded too.

    • +2

Those big motorised nerf guns use a lot of them

      • Yep, Halo MA40 uses them. Can confirm.

        • Yeah lol I got sick of buying them so I modded mine to use a bunch of eneloops/aldiloops since I have so many sitting around thanks to ozbargain haha

    • My Dick Smith by Sangean DPR-44 AM/FM/DAB+ Radio uses 4xD Cells. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/303700

      No wonder it is heavy.

    • My wireless doorbell chime takes 2 x D batteries. I also have kids toys that do. One that comes to mind is a Hot Wheels race track.

  • J Burrow's D12 pack - that's the name of my brand

  • D day

  • +1

I have a flood light with motion detection that uses D batteries. It takes 4 batteries and just replaced them after 2-3 years. Not bad. No wiring etc.

  • +1

If it is just the shape of battery required and not the extra power, can just buy those convertor/adaptor and use rechargeable AA, but good deal though

    • I posted that with a link, a few comments above and was negged 😂😂

  • Thanks OP, bought 2 boxes. 24 batteries should last me quite a while :)

This is not expired. There is still lots of stock on the shelves. The store I went to didn't have a price tag, but they still scanned as $1 per box.

    • You better buy more.
At the rate you play with your toys, you are going to need it sooner then later.

  • You can unexpire it, edit and change date

  • Plenty of stock at Fitzroy OW

  • Thanks. Got a few boxes of each. Expiry was 2028 and 2027 for mine.

  • I left two boxes at Wagga Wagga exp. 10/2027 (D)

I'll be able to try out my old Maglite without cringing at the cost. I'll still be disappointed compared to any modern LED except as a persuader.

  • Just bought some more because on the pack it said batteries not included.

    • Cash or Charge? lol

  • i didn't know what size batteries i wanted to get my girlfriends. i think i will just give them the D

    • Probably bigger than your AAAA anyway
