    No HSF Retail Box

For anyone wondering, HSF stands for Heatsink and Fan

    • +29

i thought it was hot sexy female, thanks for clarifying

      • +1

That sounds about right for a once off payment for a HSF.

I saw a video pop into my feed about fake 7800X3D chips. Probably a coincidence that these arent sold wihout a retail box. Right?

      • +3

i doubt PLE is selling fake shit

      • +1

This includes the retail box, 7800X3D doesn't come with a heatsink/fan. They just titled it weirdly.

        • Should have said "No HSF, Retail Box" or "Retail Box, No HSF"

        • Some of those fakes are being sold with a counterfeit retail box as well, so it's not just tray CPUs.

  • +1

If you wanted Warhammer 40K Space Marines 2 (Awesome game thats worth the money) .. thats $89 on steam.. so makes the CPU a good deal at $510

    • +7

And it's a Steam key too, so it's actually worth something.

      • +2

Not quite… You have to go through some AMD hoops and verify the hardware using the AMD authenticator app. Then you link your AMD account to your steam account, and they credit credit the games to your steam account.

I couldn't find a way to extract a steam code for resale/gifting. YMMV.

  • was around 550 a couple of weeks ago, i got mine for 580 like a month ago

  • +4

Prices keep going up, I've been watching these for a while. I guess the 9000 series is so underwhelming that demand for this is peaking.

  • +2

Apparently bit of shortage of these ATM, it's a great CPU, very impressed with mine

  • +4

This price point is so close to the msrp you might as well wait for the 9800x3d and/or arrow lake if you don’t urgently need a cpu now

    • I jumped on it, and msrp is $739…

Managed to sell my 5800x3d/mobo/ram for $900…plenty of people might be dking the dame to grt onto AM5.

Good value with the games too.

      • +2

Managed to sell my 5800x3d/mobo/ram for $900…

Are they high end parts? Because that sounds like you scammed someone

        • +1

Totally scammed some one. I sold my high end CPU mobo ram AM4 combo for $600 bucks.

        • Sell on ebay - there's always someone willing to pay. Please do not associate me with scamming…a bit low and a sense of jealousy?

Buy it now - set price. Sold as is.

To be honest - I think I was very lucky - I did this when the 5800X3Ds were sitting on average at $580 a few weeks back.

      • What is dk? Donkey Kong?

  • So does "- No HSF Retail Box" mean no HSF but its in a retail box, ie it has an AMD warranty, or does it mean no HSF and no retail box or warranty?

And whichever of those is the case, why do they deceptively show it in a retail box that also contains a HSF? Don't they have a phone with a camera so they can take a picture of what it is they're selling, so they can put that in their ads, and buyers know?

    • +2

I think it's meant to be "No heatsink fan, retail box" so it includes the box but no heatsink fan.

I don't think PLE would sell OEM tray versions. I could be way off though.

    • +4

It's not deceptive at all. The only crime they've committed is putting extra information in the titles since these cpus including the 'x's DO NOT come with a HSF ever.

  • +1

Since when did these sale for 599? See cheaper all the time

  • +1

Bought, now to wait for a x870 board.

  • +2

    Hold for 9000X3Ds

    • +5

9000X3D will come out at the samr RRP of $739…the 7800X3D started at

      • It might be even worse if intel ultra 200k not get better on gaming :(

  • +1

I need this processor in 1-2 weeks but the discount from retail is so minimal… to wait and risk it drops lower or to buy it now?

    • I ended up getting a used (2 week old) R5 7600 for $210 :) I will upgrade it in a few years time to a 10800X3D Zen6 CPU and that will push my system into 2030 :) haha

If you want either of those games this is a good deal as it brings the price down to around $500

    • +1

If the games are of interest to you, it's a decent enough price as SM2 alone is 89 bucks.

      If they're not, wait.

    • yeah this deal is all about those 2 games, how valuable to you. if not, buy something decent enough to wait it out and get the new cpus if thats your plan

    • +1

Thanks all, I do want those games.

  • Not the games I’d like to play
