Just added to Prime.

I saw the trailer for this ages ago and looked like a pretty good movie.

also worth mentioning it’s currently $2.99 rental on Apple TV if you don’t have a free trial of Prime. and cheaper than a month of Prime which is $9.99.

The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.

    Incredible movie

    • +3

I have two younger siblings, this movie totally moved me.

      An essential must watch.

    • +4

Who would have thought an un-ironic movie about professional wrestling could be boring in the middle.

    • +6

Hopefully there is a sequel with dragons and more special effects.

    • -1

I found the ending of the movie very predictable. Feels like the end of every other movie when the credits start rolling.

    • +1

😂 yep not your typical prime movie

  • +16

The feel-bad movie of the year. Absolutely incredible, but really, really depressing.

  • +14

So sad they even had to leave out one of the sons aswell. Also highly suggest watch the dark side of the ring episodes about this family (free on sbs)

    • Thank you I will watch it and not cry

  • Just to add to the chorus here, fantastic movie!

    Please bring tissues

Is Sydney Sweeney in the movie?

      • +14

Zac Efron is. He's beautiful and his bust is 41", bigger than Sydney's 34DDs.

    • +1

      more sad than Titanic?

  • +1

i thought this was a follow up movie to the Iron Sky movies…

  • +1

Watched it at the weekend. Fantastic movie, really surprised by it as wasn’t expecting much from a wrestling movie

  • +2

My favourite movie from 2023 even though it left me completely devastated. If you are close to your brothers/family this will gut punch you.

    • Move along buddy

I know the Von Erich story quite well, having watched pro wrestling since the 80's. I went into this thinking i was supporting a "wrestling movie" hoping it would encourage Hollywood to make more wrestling biopics. It was MUCH more than that. it was a movie about family, about life and ultimately about tragedy. it really moved me

    • Serious question back then how much of their wrestling were choreographed and how much of it was real, if you were to compare to WWE?

      • +1

Always been choreographed. The moves they do these days are more riskier.

Nothing will ever compare to the WWF v WCW war in the late 90's. 80's was good. Modern day wrestling is boring. Maybe I'm getting old.

Prefer AEW because it's more like the wrestling from the 90's.

      • +1

Professional wrestling is about as spontaneous and real as the fight scenes in the Romeo and Juliet ballet.

      • It was always 100% choreographed.

What changed over time was having professional writers come in and help script better quality stories for them, on top of the choreographed fights and moves the wrestlers and promoters created. This really started in the 1980's in regards to professional writers getting involved with the industry.

Prior to that happening, the wrestlers and promoters decided what would be the generic stories and choreography. Prior to the 80's, the promoters and all the different wrestlers actually worked together behind the scenes to have the wrestlers continue their characters, antics and rivalries outside of the ring and out in public life. They literally lived their wrestling persona's publicly for decades and decades. That portrayal of those staged events being real out in a public setting is what people refer to as "kayfabe".

    What's the deal?

    This is merely promotion.

    • +2

Agreed. It's just part of a regular paid subscription

    • +1

      Indeed.

I am so confused why this is on OzBargain lmao. This trash website is getting worse and worse.

  • -3

    Oh look, another ad…

    • +3

      This is somehow a deal.

The trailer made it look like a good movie apparently.

      Ozbargain is losing its roots.

    • How can you remove these posts? They aren't deals

  • Watched it last night. Great movie. Highly recommend.

  • +1

    Good movie

I can also highly recommend a documentary about the Von Erichs: Dark Side of the Ring did a two parter about the family. It's free to watch on SBS on Demand

  • Does prime video still have ads?
Last time I tried it there were ads despite using a paid account..

    • I realised this as well.

but was on prime, popup comes up in the Primevideo app it says "pay $2.99 for LIMITED ads" not to remove them completely. I think I tried to comment it as a PSA on another primevideo forum post but not sure if anyone read it.

    • +1

They are playing minute long ad blocks, multiple of them, in the middle of episodes now.

  • I watched it. it was good, but I didn’t think it stood out I dunno it was typical biography type movie. the acting was good I liked the part chunky Zac Efron was losing it in the ring against the wrestler.
it didn’t hit me in the feels either probably because I don’t have brothers and sisters.

some previous comments did say my movie taste is weird to terrible though so ymmv. probably a good movie for most people.
