Even at full price, supermarket brand soda water is cheaper than soda stream
The plastic is the ethical difference
Approx 33c/L for SodaStream soda water using SodaStream cylinders, cheaper if you use a custom setup
96c/L for supermarket soda water
SodaStream tanks apparently get 30 to 35 bottles. A bottle is 850mL, so a tank will carbonate 25 to 29L, not the 60L they claim.
Replacement cartridge at Kmart is $35. That's $1.20 to $1.40 per litre.
Bottle of soda water at Woolies is $1.20 for 1.25L at the every day price. That's 96c per litre.
Custom setups like the large under-bench tank from Keg Land and others will certainly be a lot cheaper again. But that's not an option for your average Soda Streamer.
@DivZero: I regularly got 60L, the trick is to not over carbonate
A swap cartridge is $20, you don’t buy new ones every time

An average Soda Streamer is drinking less soda water than a supermarket bottle on the regular and so the system works in their favour at a premium for set up
A real climate warrior would buy & bury… DIY CO2 sequestration…

May have had some short dated stock. Was manually put in a batch, but not removed after that stock had sold through. Otherwise no idea why it's so cheap.
Do you have any idea if it's available at 30c in other parts of Melbourne?
