I'd give you a +100 if I could.
Definitely, however since the damage has been done it's better than having them thrown out I suppose
No thanks I prefer happier eggs
Having just been to a free range organic egg farm, they just taste way better. If you are in WA, keep a look out for Holland Farm Eggs.
organic is irrelevant to taste. it mostly what they feed them. Most commercial eggs in oz are produced by chooks fed with cornmeal.(corn, sorghum & wheat), they had some extra stuff (everything from marigolds, paprika, pumpkin to tomato & capsicum) to make the yolks more orange (it's still "organic") them they add limestone or some calcium enhancer to make the shells hard.
IMHO the best tasting eggs are the ones fed on kitchen veggies scraps (including bread). The yolks will be differing colours (pale yellow to bright orange depending on what they've eaten), the type of scraps also affects the taste, as you are what you eat.
Caged eggs? No thanks… Not to mention they expire in seven days.
Cages eggs should already be phased out to be honest.
Taking the caged egg debate out of this, I'm more surprised they're having to mark down egg prices - there's still shortages near me?
Yeah every coles or woolies i go to. You're limited to two cartons
Bloody inhumane, can't bring myself to do it, and this is coming from someone who loves meat and animal products.
You should check out factory farms / cafos in the US. it's sickening
Australia's animal agriculture sector is pretty abysmal too, what with large parts of Dominion being filmed here.
How do I enlarge the photo of the eggs? When I click on it it just takes me to the Coles website.
Click on the “in store only” link in the description of the post
Thanks. Where on the product does it say they're caged?
“Sunrise Farm caged eggs” under the price and “caged eggs” where it states it is 700g on the top and side of the carton
2036 before caged eggs are completely phased out. That is so wrong. They should already be history.
The RSPCA standards for cage-free layer hens are hardly terrific, concerning density at least.
"a) seven birds per m² for floor-based systems
b) nine birds per m² for floor-based systems with access to an outdoor area
c) nine birds per m² for tiered systems."https://rspcaapproved.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/RSPC…
Then there's the facts that layer hens are typically slaughtered after just a year, and that male chicks are killed shortly after hatching.
It's far easier to just avoid the whole ethical dilemma, by not eating eggs at all.
Have to be a weirdo to support caged eggs
Why advertising cage eggs? Big no no.
Cage eggs.
The cruelty is immeasurable so, sure you’re saving a bit of $ but at the cost of what. No deal for me.
I usually get the barn-laid aldi eggs.
