I would rather get a 7.1 channel Atmos over one with 8k if that is the trade-off

    • What are some other things you would rather?

      • +1

        he'd rather pay more money

        • I bought Pioneer VSX834 7.2 CH last year from eBay for $539. Not sure how it compares but excellent receiver imo.

      • I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail

I'd rather be a hammer than a nail

I'd rather be a forest than a street

I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet

Agree. The Denon AVR-X1800H can be had for $759 through The Good Guys Commercial, so you can have both Atmos and 8K…

    • I had a choice between top of the line aventage vs a mid range 4k Yamaha back in the days, would've been nice to have 4k capabilities right now

      • +2

Atmos is more important right now, but it would be nice to future proof a little with 8k

        • I guess as long as there's lossless arc then video pass through is irrelevant

  • How many watts per channel OP?

    • 75 watts per channel (8 ohm, 20 Hz–20 Khz, 0.08% 2ch drive) or 100 watts per channel (6 ohm, 1 kHz, 0.7% 2ch drive) or 150 watts per channel
(6 ohm, 1 kHz, 10% 1ch drive) depending on your speaker impedance and number of channels driven

  • Yeesh, 75 watts per channel, now it makes sense why it's $599.

I think if anyone would want a decent receiver they'd want 100 watts a channel.
