any recommendations for brands?
Now Foods is my preferred, but only when works out best bang for buck. Most of the time Swanson works out best though and is still good.

https://au.iherb.com/pr/swanson-psyllium-husks-610-mg-300-ca…Thanks mate, Metamucil capsule prices weren't sustainable lol
@beltdrive: No worries. I know the ozbargain way is to get bulk psyllium powder instead of capsules, but I just can't do it. Metamucil seem to have a monopoly in AUS. They charge accordingly and have gone up 150% in the last few years.
@Grannular: Yeah I ain’t got time for powder
Dumb q: how is this different to buying psyllium husk from woolies / Coles and buying empty capsules?
I dont have time or effort for that.
Have bought melatonin from here, but find Amazon US cheaper
links?
just serach for melatonin in the iHerb site? so many varieties to choose from.
Links to Amazon US that are cheaper.
@Iluvfreebies: Ops my bad, read it wrong, I found iHerb is cheaper, even with the delivery fee. At least for the brand I usually buy.
I used to get Snyder's pretzel bites from here but it looks like they don't sell them anymore
Same… Good for my belly but bad for my taste buds
Great place to stock up on high strength vitamin D!
Fun fact: the RDA for D3 came from a big metastudy that made a mathematical error that underestimated the daily requirement by 10x. Most govt-health orgs still haven't bothered changing their recommendations. And because Australia is a nanny state that doesn't let you buy D3 dosages it thinks you don't need without grovelling before a GP, you can't even buy useful dosages of it here (i.e., over 1000IU).
You can overdose on vitamin D3 as i believe its fat soluble so not easily expelled?
The main ingredient in vitamin d3 is Cholecalciferol.
I googled "Cholecalciferol TDS PDF" and i found this https://www.parchem.com/siteimages/attachment/ghs%20vitamin%20d3%20(cholecalciferol)%20msds.pdf
Says its toxic orally?
Can someone please educate me on why its toxic but in a vitamin ?
I watch this doctor (i think dermatologist from the UK):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ukyja7cpfM&t=40s&pp=ygUQZHI…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ukyja7cpfM&t=40sBasically
High doses of vitamin D3 can lead to elevated calcium levels in the blood, potentially causing artery hardening, known as atherosclerosis. vitamin K2 directs calcium to bones and prevents arterial calcification.I think thats the case
All vitamins and minerals are toxic given a high enough dose. It's the dose and build up that makes something toxic. Eat too much cinnamon and you'll get liver damage. Apples, pears and grapes all contain arsenic, but the amount is so low that it's relatively harmless.
Vitamin D toxicity typically begins to occur in most people after long-term consumption of around 40,000 IU/day. (See https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3798924/ section 8 and table 6 - studies summary)
But a single dose of 600,000 IU can be beneficial (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20660032/)
It won't make you ill over night. One doctor deliberately consumed 100,000 IU daily and it still took 6 months for issues to show up (http://www.vitamindprotocol.com/vitamin-d-toxicity.html)
Then there's a treatment for multiple sclerosis that involves taking up to 300,000 IU/day long term under medical supervision. (Caveat: this is not a mainstream procedure.) Patients are able to avoid toxicity at these doses due to dietary restrictions (no dairy, reduce calcium intake) and close monitoring of body functions, like parathyroid hormone. (See "Coimbra Protocol")
Fair warning, some people are hypersensitive to vitamin D and even a relatively low dose can cause issues in a far short period. Get your blood levels measured.
Source please
How much and often are you all taking D3?
In winter, more or less 5000 IU every other day with vitamin K. Not saying this is a good idea, though.
Thanks. Ya seems to be the general usage during winter, unless working outside often.
So you stop taking outside or winter? Like now..
I am a big fan of the aquaphor lip balm
I've personally switched to cerave advanced healing balm. A lot easier to get from chemist warehouse than having to wait for shipping to arrive from overseas.
Easier on the wallet too.
When I was on oral isotretinoin aquaphor gave me a stinging feeling when I used it for my lips. Switched to cerave's and never had that problem during and since. I reckon it was the lanolin that caused it as i hear it can cause some reactions in people.
But what do I know I'm just an internet stranger
Ooh I'll have to try that, thanks
Anyone having payment issues with iherb? Cannot seem to verify payment with the code the bank sends? The page doesn't load. Tried with two different banks
I find iHerb quite good for getting psyllium husk capsules. I haven't found anywhere cheaper AU and Metamucil prices have become a joke
