I bought a bunch of glass storage containers due to glass being healthier to heat food up in, but the biggest issue I have found is glass is super bloody hot after you take out of microwave where as plastic is hot but not to the point you can't hold it, plus has handles on the container where glass doesn't. So the health benefits are there but the inconvenience is more of a hassle. Just my opinion that no one asked for but just felt like I wanted to share.

      Eating glass is not healthy

        🤣😆

plastic dies in the dishwasher, and is hard to clean

      • The seals are still plastic.

    • Completely agree.. we bought a few of these and great for steaming veggies in indidivudal portions but it needs a handle..

The first day after my wife bought a bunch of these I dropped my lunchbox in the office carpark. Heating up directly in plastic lunchboxes is a valid health concern but I find it also tends to damage the container itself. I heat up directly in the crockery whenever possible. Like glass, you often end up with the “hot plate” issue. In winter I use the sleeves of my jumper. In summer I use a tea towel.

I have these containers and that's not really a "hassle" IMO, certainly not enough to make me want to heat up food in plastic containers which can end up warping and looking unsightly with stains over time.

You can overcome that problem a number of ways too; use some folded paper towel, a hand towel or your sleeves as a barrier between the glass and your hands or use your finger tips on the cooler parts of the glass (normally above the level of the food on the glass).

The only issue I see with these containers is that being glass they'd break if you drop them. But that's like saying a ceramic mug is bad because it too would break if you drop it, so again it's a non-issue because you'd expect that when you make the purchase.

put a paper towel under the bowl in the microwave, the paper towel doesn't heat up in the microwave

I suspect Amazon is price-macthing Big W but have matched the 1.5L round instead of the 500ml round. Oblong was matched correctly.

    • That was my suspicion too. Which makes this an extra good deal.

      • +2

Looks like they caught on - $8.25 now.

    • Big W doesn’t have a 1.5L round for me. Also the discount percentage is lower (only $8.25 full price).

    All time low.

    $0.02 cheaper previously 😛

      I rounded. Sorry! lol

    • Lol I was just going to post that .

  • Wish Decor would bring back the glass storage range that had the lids with 4 heavy duty blue snap closure tabs on them with a removable internal leak proof silicon seal. Those were really well made.

    • Charity Shop?

  • Both show OOS for me.

Most likely not shipping to Darwin.

  • when checkout its 8.25?

  • Round shows $8.25

just opened the package with two damaged containers. it was packaged without any padding/brown paper filler, just two containers by itself inside quite large box. great stuff.

    • I bought 5 and they were sent without any protection. 3 out of 5 were damaged during transit.

      • Same here, two arrived today with absolutely no packaging, one of them smashed to bits.

        • Bought 2 and they were smashed, Amazon wanted me to return them to receive a replacement. 1 out 2 of the replacements were smashed as well. Gave up as I was sick of having to deal with broken glass. Amazon for the win
