Miele Triflex HX2 Performance Stick Vac $576 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

40

I've been wanting a Miele stick vac since the HX1 was released, but I was waiting for the HX2 to make the dust release system easier to use.

This is a very good price. If anyone can chime in as to why I should bite the bullet, please do.

Normally $1049, $473 off.

This does seem to be somewhat of an exclusive sku.

I would like to know if it is easy to pull apart and clean and whether the hepa is replaceable + cost to do so or if it is washable. Noise levels? Suction level?

I'm still using a Xiaomi/Youmi Dreame v9p cordless but the hepa becomes stinky pretty quickly and is recommended to replace it every 6 months which is stupid imo.

We essentially got gifted a HX2 Cat and Dog as our first stick vac about a year ago, my thoughts:
    - Can change configuration, but that means overall it is quite flimsy
    - Canister is very small. We have a little 3x1 50’s cottage, with a golden retriever and it is a 3x empty to clean the house.
    - Battery life is woeful, I just ran around the house on low and got maybe 20 mins out of it, with 2x canister changes and didn’t do 2x bedrooms.
    - I was excited to use it in the car occasionally, but its size makes it far less convenient than using the CX1 flexi hose with the unit outside the car. The suction is also nowhere near enough to lift sand out of car carpets, even with agitation.
    - It is obviously far quieter than the corded, however still loud enough to scare the dog.

Again, my first stick vac, so I don’t have any other long term experience to compare it to. I wouldn’t prefer to buy a Dyson if I went for another one.

    • Battery life is woeful

I have been looking at the bosch ones that uses their universal 18v batteries (same ones as the ones for power tools), so that the batteries are easily replaceable during use, and as well replacing them when they die.

My brother got a dyson and his major complaint was that battery wasn't replaceable, so when it dies, it dies, which is kinda a joke these days when batteries are essentially consumables.

You can replace the battery in a Dyson. We replaced the battery in our V8 after about 4 years.

Just go on Amazon, look up "Dyson Battery" and you'll see your brother is very wrong.

      • I have a Bosch and it is great. I gave my Dyson to my son and I got the best deal even if my wife and son thought I was mad. I bought a spare Bosch battery and I can easily do my two level, four bedroom home. Had it for over a year now and keeps going, no probs.

    • how much of the cannister is dog hair, when its full?

      • Tough to say between the mix of partners hair, dust and little bits of other stuff, but easily the vast majority.

  • My review:

    Pros:
    - with the triflex set up where the body is closer to the ground, the vac can stand up by itself
    - quite good on carpet (really gets the dust out)
    - the light on the head of the vac is actually quite useful, where you can see particles right in front of it (similar to the dyson laser detect)

    Cons:
    - not the best on hard floors for larger bits (ie cheerios), it just pushes them around
    - canister is not super easy to empty
    - maybe not so much a downside of the vac but more of a gimmick that you can change the vac into different set ups - you'll almost solely use it in the configuration where it can stand up by itself
