I saw this post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/864809 and realised they added a new build that qualifies for the $225USD steam gift card.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 6-Core/12 Threads UNLOCKED, Max Freq 4.4GHz, 35MB Cache Socket AM4 65W , With Wraith Stealth cooler
MSI B550M PRO-VDH Wi-Fi AM4 Micro-ATX Motherboard
Team T-Force Delta RGB 16GB (2x8GB) 3600MHz CL18 DDR4 Black
MSI Spatium M450 500GB NVMe M.2 PCIE4.0, Gen4 SSD
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12G VENTUS 2X OC
MSI MAG A650BN 650W PSU
MSI MAG CORELIQUID M240 Liquid CPU Cooler
MSI MAG FORGE 320R AIRFLOW WHITE CASE

Seems pretty good if you value the steam gift card.

5600 seems a little old for a 4070S but otherwise seems like a low-cost way of getting such a GPU

Can get a 5700x3d for like $220 now in a few years it'll be even cheaper, upgrade to this in a couple years time, and you have a PC for the next like 10 years lol

edit: Actually currently using the ali app, i can get a 5700x3d for $175 pre gst/shipping

Not sure I'd buy into the AM4 platform these days. Had big USB stability issues with my 5600.

7500f would be the way to go.

Eh, I'm still using a 5950x, all that's been fixed now. No issues lately.

        • A quick search will confirm issues were never fixed for some even after BIOS, chipset and all other updates and recommendations were performed. I had one unfortunately.

Nothing against these builds though, just saying I would lift to get to AM5.

  • I have never actually used a US$ Steam giftcard before; how does that work? Does it automatically get converted to AUD$ when redeemed in your Steam wallet?
