      FYI, we are comparing the price based on its previous price, rather than retailer price.

      For example, the previous price of Pepsi is $2, catalogue price is $1.8, given its retailer price is $3.8.

      It will appear 20c off in the post, but it will be 50% off discount on the catalogue.

        So are you saying the 'previous price' is the most recent, non-sale price offered by the supermarket? And therefore, this gives us as consumers a way of seeing those items the supermarkets are saying are half price (based on some random previous selling price) but in actual fact are coming in at a much lower discount when compared to their most recent selling price? Or have I totally misunderstood?

    I like the effort here, but there's incorrect and noisy data that needs to be taken care of. For example:

    1. V Energy Drink 4 x 500ml(woolworths.com.au) $26.00 -62% $10.00 ❌ - $8.00

    $16 not $26. And it's on a "Prices Dropped For Spring" rather than a weekly special..

    1. Coca-Cola Classic, Zero Sugar, Diet, Sprite or Fanta Soft Drink Varieties 1.25 Litre(woolworths.com.au) $3.85 -50% $1.92 ✅

    This muddies the water and detracts from the post. It's technically "the lowest price since July" but it's this price every 2-3 weeks.

    1. Australian Seedless Amorette® Mandarins(woolworths.com.au) $3.50 ❌ - $0.42

    The special price is per kg, and the lowest is each - so these aren't really comparable.

    Also "lowest since July" isn't much of a range - would this be something you look into expanding?

      1. I’ve noticed some data inconsistencies and will address them as soon as possible.
      2. The issue stems from the fact that the catalog includes multiple SKUs, which may represent different products. I’ve deliberately chosen one SKU to display the lowest price.
      3. I’ll remove the weight-based products in the future to avoid confusion.
      4. I’ve been tracking the data since July and don’t have prior records, but the dataset will grow over time.

        It has been the lowest price since July and will remain that until it is 99¢ or less.

    4xV energy drinks is $26 as a normal price. Woolworths you are kidding me right? $6.50 a can. WOW!

    This is as bad as cans of deodorant costing $9.50 as a regular price.

    This isn't inflation. It is absolute corporate greed, and I do not understand why people would pay these prices.

    Mother Energy Drink Can 4 x 500ml(woolworths.com.au) $12.55 -40% $7.50

    This above is the biggest example of their greed. The regular price for this was about $8.50 and that was only two weeks ago. For many months you paid $8.50 for a 4 pack. They then upped the price overnight to $12.55. This is a little more than 7% inflation. That's a full 50% price increase, overnight.

    Now you think you are getting an amazing sale, however you are only saving $1 from the regular price that was standard just two weeks ago.

    Yes, I like to consume energy drinks so I know my prices. :)

      Rockstar 4pks were always $6.60 and then shot up to $11 overnight. Then they wondered why no one wanted to buy them and eventually phased them out.

      A shame really, some of them were decent.

      Honestly think it has less to do with their greed and more to do with supplier not renewing contract pricing (for eg PepsiCo bought Rockstar in 2020 and didn't agree to keep pricing).
