Can You Recommend a Short Term 5G Internet Service?

I need a 5G internet service for a month (two at most) with at least 200GB data allowance and good 5G speeds.

Plan is to run Wi-Fi off it for a few people for that duration while waiting for a fibre service to be installed. Melbourne CBD.

Any recommendations?

  • You could use the Belong hacks? or even buy data off classifieds here?

    • Ideally the ISP will give me the option to buy a 5G wifi router from them so I don't need to go shopping for one.

  • Tangerine ?

    What's your budget?
Also - how will you transmit WIFi … Do you need a device?

    • Budget is probably $250 - $500. Ideally the ISP will provide the 5G WWAN router with WiFi. It's a small biz that's needing it so they will just have to pay whatever is costs.

  • Some ISP (eg; Optus, Telstra) are month to month and as long as you return the modem, there’s no charge for it

Telstra and TPG(using Vodafone/TPG network) both offer offer month to month plans are provide $0 modem(that you send back when you cancel).

    $85 per month
    1000GB Data
Download: Max 633Mbps Upload: Max 86Mbps

    https://www.tpg.com.au/5g-home-broadband
    $55 per month(for 6 months)
    Unlimited Data
    Max Download: 100Mbps Upload: 20Mbps

If they're worried about reliability just get both.

    • I tried to put in a couple of addresses for Telstra but for some reason they say it's not available in Melbourne CBD.

Personally, I'd be avoiding anything TPG related.

Both myself + family (separate accounts) - have had negative dealings with them … NBN.

Their customer service is also terrible, if you ever have to call them for an issue.

  • Telstra is shaped unmetered and month to month.

    • Will the Telstra device connect to 4G if 5G isn't available? Apparently the building's Distributed Antenna System is only 4G capable.

      • You'd think so. Does anyone even offer a "5G only" service?
