I'm tempted to pull the trigger… But…my old tv is still working fine

      • This one little trick the RBA hates…

  • great TV if it turns out OK

These aren't box damaged… These are actual refurbs or returns or something

These are seconds not box damaged though, does that mean they're returns with issues that have been fixed ?

  • I assume seconds just means some audio buzz or dead pixels.

    • +1

It says it should just be aesthetic issues, guessing like bumps or scratches.

      • +2

Could handle a bump or a scratch but dead pixels is a no. I doubt it would be that.

I bought one of these, did a firmware update and it bricked itself, lasted less than an hour

Same here, with a similar Sony model.

Ended up going for a 65 TCL Mini-LED, paid ~$1.1k and absolutely no issues.

surely they provide an unbricking service under warranty.

    • That's surely covered by the warranty though right?

  • Sony are the 1 brand that people seem to say have a good enough processor and OS setup to run without needing an external box (Apple TV / Chromecast etc). Would this TV be OK for that?

    • Yup I still have a X90F that runs great and that was on Android TV.

    • Yep have an A90J thats a bit of an older model now but still runs great. Bit laggy at first startup if i try and quickly scroll through the main screen but only for like a second or so.

It’s a no from me. Tv started playing up just outside the 90 day replacement window. Told me I’d have to have it repaired by a tv technician. Sorry that’s bullshit, refurb or not. Spend the extra few hundred and just buy new

  • I would have given this a go, but doesn't post to Perth by the look 😩

  • I bought the last deal for "factory second" and it came brand spanking new with no issues or even box damage (as indicated).
Perhaps these refurbs are different as they've already gone back for an issue so could be "lemons".
