750

Rock up in a hi-vis vest and you're good to go👍 Stay safe, and enjoy🍩

In celebration of National Tradie Day, Krispy Kreme is taking a moment to say thanks to Australia's tradies with a free treat on them. Next Friday September 20, tradies can pop into their nearest Krispy Kreme store and snag themselves one free original glazed doughnut - but there's a slight catch. If they want to get their hands on the delicious free treat, tradies need to do one simple thing - rock up to the store wearing their tradie gear. Seems simple enough!

I have six days to source hi - vis for free. I think I can do it.

    • +21

Don't forget the ladder and a vape.

    • +13

I could probably source some roadwork signs and equipment pretty quick to look the part on the ute. There's endless stretches of roads with no work being done.

    • +5

Just charge $200 for the call out to pick it up!

    • And a Ford Ranger

      • +7

Ayo why did this donut end up costing me a 19% 7 year car loan with a $23k balloon payment

        • +3

          Classic tradie maths maffffs.

      • +1

        Or, a HiLux w/ ARB 4x4 accessories.

    • +1

What if the cost of sourcing hi-vis gear > cost of donuts?

  • +2

Nice one arse but wearing hi-vis doesn't make you a tradie lol.

    • +19

You need some light brown work boots and a dare iced coffee in hand.

      • And don't forget to catcall random strangers.

        • With a ciggie over the ear.

          • @Clear: The packet needs to be tucked under you shirt sleeve near shoulder level.

      • +3

And a complete disregard for road rules!!

      • Big M carton

      • +1

        In SA it's FUIC.

    • +1

Right now, hi-vis makes me think of porch pirates, since someone wearing hi-vis stole my amazon package lol

      • Wasn't there some numbnuts burglarising homes wearing a hi vis shirt? Who was cornered by some concerned citizen.

  • You'll also need a ute or 4 wheel drive, with mud on it

    • +14

If it's a tradie's fourby then it's likely never even seen a gravel road.

      • The mud or dirt should be compulsory. Otherwise you're just some yuppy or Bevan driving your pristine status symbol.

        • +1

But the mud is from some unpaved driveway and not from any actual off-roading.

  • +1

Shame it wasn't a Sunday…would be at least a free dozen.

  • +14

    Tradie day, cough vomit. Wtf

  • +19

Krispy Kreme is taking a moment to say thanks to Australia's tradies for ripping us off at every opportunity.

  • Thanks OP.

Can’t believe even Krispy Kreme is fire lately compared to CBA Yello for the billions in profits they are making and keeping, and unlike others like Woollies, David Jones, Uber One, Menulog, Doordash, Shopback/Westpac who’s somewhat doing a decent job which helps out with cost of living.

  • +3

Buy a tradie outfit from Kmart. Collect free doughnuts. Return tradie outfit.

    • Haha too funny 😂

  • Drive sanely

    • +4

Real tradie would tailgate all the way in the Ranger

      • +2

        RAPTOR RANGER!!!!

  • +7

What…no sprinkles? Get me the union rep!

  • +12

Don’t these guys making a killing in this country already.

    • Yes because fatties like donuts but what's that got to do with this post?

      • Do fatties and tradies intersect in the Venn diagram ?

  • and where can we get a hi-vis vest for free? lol

    • Check the ute trays at your local construction sites (joking)

  • +5

Feels like everything is geared towards tradies

    • +1

We really do need more tradies, so if this convinces people to learn a trade, then it’s a net positive for Australia.

      • You can basically get unlimited number of tradies from India. But unions and tradies do not want tradie migration at all.

        • -2

Unions are evil of course, but I agree that we don't need tradie migration.
We need labor workers only, not permanent residents.
Learn from Singapore and Dubai, they have an effective visa system.
Recruit workers from cheaper sources, provide them housing in a designated areas or cruise ships, similar to quarantine centers back in COVID, send them back when their project is done.
Zero social problem for us, higher income for them, win-win,
plus minimizing Unions' appropriate power, more competition, better quality, cheaper price.

          • @AsukaST: We are not having the terrible system of bosses taking away passports from workers that Dubai has. Unions are the only reason we have penalty rates and weekends

          • @AsukaST: Basically slavery yeah?

I do wonder what you do for a living.

      • I, along with some others in my class, failed to attain an apprenticeship in order to become apprentices despite ticking all the boxes. I applied for maybe 10-20 positions over the course of several months and nobody would take me on. I think there are many people willing to learn but not as many willing to teach. What do I know though, I couldn't even become a tradie…

  • +1

    Why tradies

  • skilled manual worker in a particular craft or trade.

    Hmmm

  • +2

This Bostic free Hi-vis deal is still paying dividends years later, a free shirt for yard work and now a free donut.

    • Will be the first time to wear my freebie - outside of my yard👷

      • Donut underestimate the future potential of a free hiviz shirt.

        • Plan ahead for freebies! 😂

Found a tradie hiviz vest with logo. Kept in car boot - in case of emergency. Never used it.
          Might get me a 2nd 🍩

  • Isn’t anyone with a qualification technically a tradie?

  • +1

Note to self: avoid driving near any krispy kremes on Friday, chance of being tailgated by Ford Ranger high.

  • "Honey, do we still have my old tradie shorts and hi vis shirt?"

    • she can borrow them from her boyfriend

in return he gives her a glazed donut

  • Didn't realize trades were volunteers.

  • +2

Why give tradies, they are the ones richer than us. Lol

    • +1

They spend more at KrispyKreme, so this is the 'kickback'

  • +1

Fat c&*^ friday just got better.

  • +1

I don't like excluding people. Please change offer to - free donut for tradies, and two free donuts for non-tradies.

  • +1

I’ll also give free donuts to the tradie that gives me a quote lower than $30,000 for a bear bones bathroom renovation

    • +2

What species of bare do you have in mind?

  • Do i even count i have a Teleco License and a NSW white card lol

let me wear my Tool Belt and get my tools Xd

  • -2

Tradies. lol. People too dumb to finish year 12.

    • -1

Finishing year 12 isn't hard though. Learning a trade and being good at it requires much more attention to detail.

      • For me it was hard, I had tutors in 4 subjects.

      • requires much more attention to detail

Then this skill is never used again…

    • "Mondorock on 11/09/2024 - 08:28

So the other day I went to HJs and got a drink. The lid had no place to put the straw into! I was gobsmacked. Has anyone else found this?" k.

      • So if I skipped year 12 and became a tradie I'd be able to figure out where to put the straw in my HJ drink. Totally worth it.

        • You'd do a typical tradie job and stick the straw through the side of the cup.

    • Tradies.
For those that don't want to lock themselves into paying for a HECS debit that will probably outlive the the usefulness of the degree in the first place.

      • I think my HECS at uni studying Comp Sci was about $4000 a year (with 25% upfront discount).

  • +3

Can I just show pictures of defects in a new build?

  • Should I take my class in a hi vis cycling vest?

  • +1

    Has anyone tried this today?

  • Any deals on hi vis vests and muddy boots?

  • I wonder how many will actually turn up.
