OzB favourite stainless steel brand Zojirushi has a Stainless Steel Food Jar, 17-Ounce (~502ml) albeit in Hello Kitty Collection Black for $42.65. Deal only lasts for approximately 1 more hour apparently. Been tracking this and I believe it's pretty low.

Can't find accurate info on camel x3 for some reason as it's reporting it for $77 normally but I've seen it usually around $52.

      You mean purrrfect

  • Why is this thermos so expensive? Because it's licensed?

CCC never accurately tracks Amazon US or other Amazon country prices. I don't know why. Maybe due to XE fluctuations.

    • It's actually the cheapest Zojirushi I can find on Amazon, branded or not. Everything else is $50+

A Thermos branded one with comparable volume is $23 and delivered next business day and comes with a spoon embedded into its lid, and longer heat retention (if claims are to be believed in the description).

I get this is a Zojirushi, but what advantages does it have over other vacuum sealed food jars, in this case an actual Thermos branded one?

        • No advantages beyond having Hello Kitty on it.

I did not have Zojirushi jar, but I have the Thermos one. It barely keep food hot up to 6 hours. Kid brought the Thermos one to school, and reported that the food is cold after 2-3 hours.

I did have the Zojirushi bottle, it can easily keep hot water, even after 5 hours, I still can't drink because it's too hot.
My wife got Camelbak insulated bottle (heavier than Zojirushi). She can drink water after 2-3 hours. Both bottle were filled with boiling water at the same time.

So I think with Zojirushi jar, price matched with their quality and claimed words.

        • Zojirushi make one of, if not the, best vacuum containers on the market

There are plenty of reviews online

          You pay for quality

        • I have a thermos branded one. It could not retain heat to a sufficient level for more than 3 hours.

To be fair - I am not sure if this one is any better as I have not received/tried it yet, but if their performance is equal to their drink bottles I'd be happy with that.

        • I only ever used Thermos and always thought their heat retention was typical and what was to be expected of this type of product until I got gifted a Zojirushi. The difference is night and day, food and liquids remain very hot for many hours (definitely until lunchtime if you prepped in the morning) often too hot to consume straight away, never going back. Also the build quality is excellent had mine for many years..

          • @jabbathepom: Yeah, I’ve never tried their food canisters but do have 3 or 4 of their drink bottles. Putting say a tea into one of these, they’re still warm 24 hours later.

In fact they’re so effective that some people in Amazon reviews see it almost as a slight negative that if they make a coffee in the morning, before drinking in the afternoon they need to leave the lid off for a bit to allow it to cool down. They’re that effective.

I think they’re great and worth it.

Again, can’t speak for the food canisters however.

  • 50% bigger but also 50% more expensive.

However, you don't get Hello'd by Kitty.

The aqua Blue 750ml seems to be a few dollars cheaper
