Different style ear buds, the rubber nub goes into the ear canal and blocks more outside noise, which is better sound but not as comfortable for some.. the air5 lets you hear more of the outside around you
Can you elaborate on "much better"? How to do comparing with your Air4?
Also, I will wait til it drops to around $50 before buy.
Noise cancelling is way better, longer battery life, mic is clearer.
Air5 uses Qualcomm QCC3091 chip which enables Bluetooth 5.4 vs Air4 uses Qualcomm QCC3071 for Bluetooth 5.3. It's better ANC on paper, maybe 10% longer batter life and basically the same 6 mic for both. Not sure if I will upgrade if I had the Air4
I had both Air 3 and 4, and 4 was a big disappointment for me.
@jrchurvnjef: I had both Air 3 and 4, The three had Battery issues died after 30 minutes of use but otherwise I couldn't really tell much difference in quality.
@furyou: Interesting. Air 3 still works for me, about a year later. 4 is far less comfortable for me.

Air3 has the best outdoor mic quality IMO. It blocks so much background noise.

I have the air 2’s, lol, I know a bit old but sound is great but mics are hit and miss. Indoor no problem, as soon as I go outside, people struggle to hear me.

I know exactly what you're talking about as I have so many shitty one lol, but Air3 is so good that you wouldn't believe it. The best I have by far. I didn't try the pro version, any other one were not as good.

Maybe you want to return it if you have the Air3 that doesn't block background noises! Are you sure it's a Air3, not the Air3 Deluxe nor Air3 Pro though! I bought 4 pairs for my team and we are all happy with it, especially when making calls outdoor.

So, I actually had Air3 HS for a while and was pretty happy with it. Decided to upgrade to Air4 to give a try ANC. Never had any ANC headphones before so didn't have expectations.
TBH I just tried Air4 a very few times just yet, so not sure how it actually compares to Air3. ANC is a bit weird. Same feelings as like in the plane.
Overall sound quality probably a bit worse than Air3. But didn't compare it directly. Biggest improvement Air4 can connect to multiple devices at a time, which is handy.
So not sure if I was happy or not but would be nice to compare Air4 and Air4 side by side to be able to tell if there is difference or not

Personally I would recommended the SoundPEATS Capsule3 Pro+ for extra $9. It's using the latest xmems speakers. Very good control bass. And mids quote detail. Hard to get from dynamic speakers. More luxury design and super comfy. Highly recommended.
Yes the in ear plug ones are always better from a sound point of view particularly bass but unfortunately I suffer from the occlusion effect and when walking around with the plug variants doesn’t work for me and I hear my feet thumping on the ground. Need an Air5 type design or over the ear. If you google occlusion effect it explains it pretty clearly and I’m pissed off I’m one of those that cops it.
