  • So $2399

  • With solar does the amount of the energy it produces offset how many kw per day on the bill? Or is it just the export rate that you get back based on what your system produces?

    • if you use electrical appliance whilst its generating power, you essentially don't pay for it.

the feed in tariff returns nowadays are basically negligible

    • +1

      Hey ste05,

Solar produced is used in real time. So whatever the system is producing is utilised by the house load first, any left over is then sent to the grid as export. Alternatively if the solar production is less than the load then solar is used up first and the balance is bough from the grid.

The best use case for solar power is to utilize the power as its being produced during the day. As export value is very low in terms of $$, you are better off using the power in home as much as possible.

Using big loads, washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, electric heating and cooling etc during peak solar times ensures that you self consume majority of the power.

So on your bill you will only see usage after solar. There are some good add on devices that you can get such as a Smart Meter for the solar inverter, or energy monitor by Powerpal (free under Vic Gov Scheme) that will allow you to track consumption and export accordingly.

Happy to discuss further :) feel free to reach out directly.

      Cheers,

      Matt

  • I haven’t been paying attention to prices too much, but this is very similar to what we paid 4 years ago.

Most low end 6.6kw systems are advertising around $2k so this seems decent. (I’m not claiming to be an expert, just what I’ve seen in my area)

Not endorsing the company, product, etc.

Reviews are good https://www.solarquotes.com.au/installer-review/cerium-energ… but they’re a relatively new company (at least according to the low number of reviews)

    • +2

I have used them for my solar install a few years ago and my experience was good overall. Matt is very helpful (I asked a lot of questions!)

      • I had a similar experience, very good.

  • Interested in taking up this offer. Is there anything special we need to do other than just go via the quote page on the website?

    • You also need to do the secret handshake

      • Lol.

    • Yea mate get in touch online or give us a buzz in the morning and we will get a quote sorted and go from there.

  • Any bigger systems available?

    • Hey goldiep,

Thanks for reaching out, with larger systems we need to check a number of things including but limited to:

      Roof Space
      Roof Splits
      Single or 3 Phase
      Export Limitations

This will ensure that the quote we provide you is accurate for your needs.

We are passing on similar discounts for larger systems as well.

To give everyone an idea please see below:

A 10kW system in Metro Melbourne with Jinko 440w Panels with a Goodwe 10kW Single Phase Inverter will start at: $2,899 Upfront after the Solar Vic Rebate of $1,400 and the Solar Vic Loan of $1,400.

Total customer cost: $4,299 after the Solar Vic Rebate

Please note there are a number of factors to consider with larger systems, distributor approvals for export, single or 3 phase, available roof space, splits on the roof and STC rebate amount based on the total panel wattage.

We always want to make sure we provide a accurate price and quote for our consumers. If one would like a property specific quote please get in touch. The pricing wont be far off the estimate.

  • This deal or this : https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/862065? Which is the better deal? Extra grand for larger inverter and extra 1.8 kw. Is there any real diff between Trina and Jinko panels? Of the belief they are pretty much the same.

    • Hey hazzad,

They are indeed very similar panels, pricing wise they are the same fyi. I would say go for a 10kW instead if the roof space allows. There are a number of factors when considering the right size system, export limits being a major one.

A larger system is useful if you are home during the daytime and using a lot of power during those daylight hours. That being said the larger unit does come in handy on crappier winter days as well.

We are offering the 10kW package starting from $2,899 upfront (after rebate and loan) (as per the above comment), that's an excellent price for the products and system size.

If you would like a detailed analysis and quote please get in touch with us on 03 8322 9999 or email through your details to [email protected] and we can have a look into things.

      • Will give you a buzz in the morning. We do have partial shade to the roof in the latter part of the day. We had someone out quoting today and they we talking panels that better dealt with shading. The price they quoted for the 10kw system was way out of our budget so I ended up getting a quote for a 6.5 kw which avoids most of the shading. A larger system would be nice but im assuming shading will compromise the system. Anyway will give you guys a call in the morning and you guys can look in maps and see.

  • Do you do SolarEdge? Approx cost for a 25kw system?

    • Hey Atlas,

Yes we do offer SolarEdge, please note with SolarEdge the system allows for a lot of flexibility on panels placement as each panel has its own dedicated optimiser, meaning that we can have panels in all various orientations without the need for panels to be next to each other or connected in a string.

This is beneficial for properties with shading as well as multiple roof aspects. SolarEdge is also fairly expensive when compared to standard string systems (such as this offer).

Further to this with larger systems such as a 25kW system there are a number of items we need to determine to ensure accurate pricing, these include but not limited to:

      • Roof Space
      • Panel placement
      • Single or 3 phase
      • Export limits by distributor
      • STC and state rebates

Due to the above we are unable to provide a cost without knowing property specifics.

If you would like to discuss further or get a quote please get in touch via our website, or call us on 03 8322 9999 or email your details to [email protected], and we will be happy to explore the most suitable option for you.

  • Looking to upgrade from an existing older system that only has 1.5kw.
Are there any associated charges for upgrading it?

    • Hey brian23309,

Normally we would remove the old system (at a cost) for 1.5kW approx. $200 for removal and disposal. We will then install the new system as a stand alone. Older systems are usually inefficient and take up price real-estate on the roof so in most cases its best to remove them completely. Things like export limits by the distributor and inverter sizing comes into play as well.

If you would like a property specific quote please leave a quote request or give us a call on 03 8322 9999 to discuss further.
