Tastes may differ but Coles has MasterFoods 500ml Tomato Sauce for $1.90 (though I only buy MasterFoods Australian Grown Tomato Sauce to support Aussie farmers).

true… no biggie but Heinz is owned by warren buffet and Brazilian billionaires.

      • must be good if warren is investing in it,

I stick to Heinz Tomato Ketchup cuz I once tried a few other brands and they were more runny? Not sure the names Tomato Sauce vs Ketchup have any meaning?

      • +4

Sadly, I agree. I haven't tried MasterFoods for a little while but it definitely wasn't the same quality as Heinz whenever I last tried it. I generally try to support Aussie brands when it's equivalent (or even slightly worse), but I found the difference personally to be significant enough to stick to Heinz.

Happy to hear any alternatives or re-try MasterFoods if it's significantly improved.

I've just tried the mutti tomatoe sauce it was half price last week at WW it's real good using roma tomatoes I'll be using that from now on .

          • @spock: oh wow, i've never had this one. I will try it, you've sold that to me, and you've succeeded.

        • +2

The best tomato sauce after trying most in Coles/Woolies I feel is the ozesauce.
I think it's mainly down to using real vinegar rather than acetic acid.

i sometimes buy master foods or rosella if heinz isn’t on special and they are, heinz is the superior product, thicker and more tomatoey so i will be stocking up at this price ….

      • +2

Yeah ketchup is thicker than tomato sauce. A bit sweeter too. Once I tried ketchup, I never went back to tomato sauce.

    This is a great drink

  • It tastes a bit on the sweeter side, and that's exactly why I like it! The one litter size was only $4.20 last time I bought.

Same I bought heaps but almost out now

Did you cats enjoy using it?

      How was the absorption rate

      • I saw what you did there

        • Ty I expect for most it will go unnoticed but I appreciate the recognition

  • 1L smilar price if it is sold out

    • +1

Yep I bought that just last week. When I saw this deal I thought I should have waited. But turns out this is the 500ml so works out the same price lol

Doesn't deliver to my rural address.

    • +2

Same and very limited to what i can even order from Amazon these days.

Is it just me who has noticed that these Amazon sales almost always correspond to colesworths current sales?

    • +1

Amazon are price matching…. Or did I misunderstand what you're trying to say?

    • That's exactly what they do. If you see it on sale at Coles or Woolworths, you can get it for the same price Amazon for the sale period, and cheaper if you order as S&S.
Been doing this for a long time.

  • I prefer real tomato sauce not the American sauce

  • +1

Heinz Tomato Ketchup is the best!

  • It's cheaper buying in bulk from wholesalers as an everyday regular low price.

They nearly always work out to be better pricing than the Colesworth/Amazon discount cycle specials.

    • Thanks for the link!

  • Am I the only one that hates ketchup but loves tomato sauce? Can't stand the weird taste of ketchup, seems like a good price tho

    • Ketchup is superior with much less preservatives and a dash of vinegar
