I'm not sure if this is a good deal because I can't afford business class at almost any price but I've given this a like because Budapest is a great city

Not an expert by any stretch, but I think Iran and Turkiye are on the same side?

      • +4

They're not on the same side, but there's no such thing as missiles flying everywhere and most airlines fly over Turkey and Iran because they are very big geographical areas that can't be avoided for any airline.

@Chinese: Old news mate, that was more than a month ago when things were about to escalate. There's been nothing over the last few weeks and I think most airlines returned to normal in the majority of the middle east.

            • @Allaa1980: Well, what is known is that air space can be shut/avoided by choice.

What is unknown is when that happens.

The reply was merely to say it is possible that airspace can be shut/avoided, not necessarily happening now.

Not sure about international flights but Turkish Airways domestic flights was my worst experience ever.
Their flight attendant was really rude when I flew with them 2 months ago.
It was an 90 mins domestic flight. In flight meal was a chicken sandwiches but the chicken meat was less than 10% of the size of the bread, probably smaller than an Australian dollar gold coin.

They handed out the sandwiches and drinks and in less than 7 mins they asked me to return the meal box.
Well, I wasn't expecting to finish it and my cup of Coke in 7 mins so I said, "Later, Thank you."
After I finished it I left the empty box and cup on my table, expecting them to collect rubbish when the flight approach to landing.
They didn't. 20mins before landing they asked me to fold the table.
So I asked them politely, "Please take the rubbish away, Thanks."
She refused and repeated, "Fold your table now."
I thought perhaps she wasn't good at English so I said to her, " Rubbish, please take away first, thank you."
And she said, "No! This is YOUR rubbish."
I was shocked and looked at her, WTF is this flight attendant talking about? Refusing to collect inflight meal box?

I had no plastic bag and my bag was under the seat in front of me.
I was not prepared to throw some sticky sugar cup and oily sandwiches package on top of or into my bag.
So I throw "my rubbish" to the corridor, in front of her shoes
She became like a red apple and make a lot of noise in Turkish. Well, none of my business anymore.

I am not going to take an airline if their attendant doesn't know how to serve customers properly.

PS. I enjoyed Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan a lot. They are great places to visit.
Turkey was fine, but tourist tickets are expensive, like more than 10 times of the price of local resident tickets, they just want to take every single cent from tourist pocket.
Their ticket office also play nasty tricks, trying to sell me ticket + Audio pack when I said "1 Adult ticket only please".
You've to be really careful because the ticket price is displayed in EUR on the signs but their credit card machines charge you in equivalent Turkish Lira.
So you may not noticed they have overcharged you.
Before buying any tickets, Google the actual price in Lira first, and say "Adult ticket only, No Audio, thanks"

too many words. just 3 paragraphs of sook.
its a flight deal don't flood the comments section with a day in the life of TanedaR
if this Karen moment on an online bargain forum is anything to go by, I think you might be the problem and not Turkish Airlines
turkish airlines is commonly voted Top 10 internationally and is massively expanding its presence given its sucess.

Nah, I also posted my experience on a Business Class Traveling Facebook page.
Many echo me their domestic is nothing but unpleasant and international business class is below Asian airlines like CX, SQ, JAL, ANA etc.
There may be a lot of European Airlines worse than Turkish, but it's nothing close to real service.
I took MIAT business class earlier this year, they were awesome.

@AsukaST: So this happened in a Turkish air domestic business class flight?

If you can't eat a sandwich in 7 minutes and drink a drink, you must not have come from a big family.

Cabin staff can't give people 1 on 1 service. They need to collectively group tasks there isn't enough time.

Your attitude towards them sounded very rude and I think you need to have empathy, if you think you're never wrong, maybe start there

Should have flown Turkish business class. Which is what this deal is :-)

      • which I did.

        • -1

Don’t fly some of the airlines I did in that case in the 00’s. I flew Air Lanka, Air India, China Southern (when it was much worse than nowadays), Gulf Air I think was another one.

I take it as a badge of honour that I flew them and survived and ended up much better adjusted than you crying over a sandwich (I don’t know really what you wrote, I got bored of it).

          • @kiriakoz: The tldr is slow eater, gave attitude, got attitude back, wrote a novel about their experience, wasn't a best seller, now sending out free PDF versions to any forum that mentions the same genre

Lmao yeah they got me at the Galata tower with the ticketing - had the price in euros on the sign then realised i was overcharged in turkish lira. Oops.

      • What do you mean?

        • The sign at the ticket office is in Euro.
          For example
          Adult ticket: 10 Euro
Adult ticket + Audio Guide: 15 Euro

But when you show your credit card, their machine charges you in Lira.
          10 euro = 375 Lira
          15 euro = 565 Lira

I had more than one occasion, the staff inside charged me 565 Lira when I said "1 Adult ticket please"
You won't notice they have overcharged you because it shows 565 Lira, not 15 Euro + we are not familiar with the exchange rate.
They do this on purpose, hoping you are not aware of it.
Lesson: Always Google the actual price in Lira before approaching.

For anyone wanting a TLDR of the bit I read before I got bored:
      - OP boarded a very short flight that came with food
      - OP was slow eating food
      - Flight attendant came to OP and asked to stow tray table as per airline safety regulations before landing.
      - Upset that OP didn't get special treatment they threw their rubbish on the ground and made the flight attendants pick it up and dispose of it while busy preparing the cabin for landing
      - Flight attendant was understandably annoyed

      • -1

        Nope, I wasn't slow eating.
No one is expecting to finish it in 7 minutes. In fact, 3 out of 4 passengers in my row was still having their meal.
It's a standard procedure for flight attendant to check if there is any rubbish left over before landing.
They only collected once, which was 7 mins after handing out the meals and drinks.

And yes, that was Business Class where premium service is expected.

        • -2

Premium service does not equal breaking airline code lol. You had time to get them to collect rubbish before they were enacting safety protocol. It's your fault you didn't and therefore the rubbish is your problem.

It's a standard procedure for flight attendant to check if there is any rubbish left over before landing.

No, it's not.. it's perfectly acceptable to leave things in a seat pocket etc. They clean the plane afterwards, a plastic cup is not a hazard or priority lol..

The flight is 90 mins. 30 minutes either side the flight attendants are busy. That only leaves 30 mins of time to deliver and collect meals, while dealing with other passenger requests.

Looking forward to you digging your heels in and doubling down that somehow you're not the problem lmao.

          • -2

@pennypincher98: When 3 out of 4 business class passengers in the same row have their meal boxes on their table, are you saying I should be the one to press the button and remind them they haven't done their job properly?
It's pretty obvious isn't it? Excuse me but please don't apply the same standard from EY on J class.

Yes I could have put the rubbish into the seat pocket if she requested.
She could have said sorry we were busy and didn't have the time, but she didn't.
She was acting like she doesn't care, it's not her job.
When a flight attendant is so rude to me, rather than sending a complaint email and receive a reply generated by Chat GPT, I believe that was the best way to show her service is unacceptable.
If you are being rude to me, I will be the same to you.
            Simple it is.

            • @AsukaST: Bro this is so fkn entitled it doesn't even warrant a proper reply. She is a human doing what the company tells her to.

Bet you also yell at Coles workers about the expensive prices.

@pennypincher98: I know right! This guy is insane with levels of entitlement.

The argument of "but everyone else was the same" is not an argument

I used the same defense once while speeding…

      Sorry for your experience.

Unfortunately, people need to be prepared to be negged for sharing an experience these days, because only people who are interested in the post will click through, so they already have a bias towards the deal and will generally have a defensive take against negative comments.

I shared a negative experience about booking.com (my family got scammed and it haunts me to this day) and I got negged to the point my neg of the deal was cancelled. I was sad to learn in later booking.com Ozbargain posts that others have also been scammed since.

If you don't listen, you don't learn.
