you don't live in Victoria, you exist whilst planning your escape to Queensland.

Hi jv, thanks for your comment. As mentioned in our FuelRadar Coverage section in this deal, on our website, and in the app listing, FuelRadar does not currently work in Victoria due to the absence of a mandated fuel price reporting scheme. We are always looking for ways to expand, and we appreciate your understanding.

      • -1

You need to mention that in the title.

How does google maps do it

  • +5

How is this different to fuel watch?

    • -2

WA is the only state to have such a system. I use a free app called Bowser Watch and it gets the job done just fine.

      • NSW has fuel check

        • When I meant 'such system' I meant the whole thing where prices are locked in at 2:30pm each day for the following day and servos can't change their price during the day, I didn't mean WA was the only state to have a site where you can check the fuel price. But yes, NSW does have fuel check.

      • RAA in SA has a fuel price map on their free app. Petrol stations have to give 30 minutes' notice before they change their price. In WA all petrol stations have to show by 2:30 pm (I think) what the fuel prices will be at 6:00 am the next morning.

What's not use PetrolSpy? Except the ad bit.

    • +2

      adguard fixes the ad problem.

    • +3

      Petrolspy website has ads?
Thanks Brave; i actually genuinely didnt know.

      • Came here to say this aha

  • +4

Not a lot of differences between this and NSW FuelCheck app.
But happy to see someone keeping it straight $1 rather than mentioning $0.99 for a psychological advantage

      • The purchase price is actually $0.99 when you go to pay on Android.

      • -8

        FuelRadar has been helping Australians

        Sorry foreigners not allowed

    • But it's discounted from $9.99 and not $10 haha

  • Hey OP I'm just checking the app out now. Any easy way to exclude Costco from results?

    • +2

Thanks for your suggestion. Currently, you can select the station brands you'd like to show (excluding all other types), but the option to exclude specific stations isn’t currently available. We’ll make sure to roll this out in our next update!

      • The feature is broken once you select 7 brands (android) - which makes it useless since there are many many brands in the list you pick from only show.

  • If I bought the + while not being logged-in is the subscription linked to my Google account?

    • This is correct. FuelRadar requires logging in on new app launch, to be able to provide price notification alerts in the app. Even if you continue as a guest, FuelRadar+ will still be linked to either your Apple or Google account. Please note: FuelRadar+ is a one off purchase.

Feedback : Some of the ads being pushed are pretty scammy.

Used the app for about 20 seconds and accidentally clicked on the ad-bar , got a full page pop-up “suspicious activity detected, virus scan needed”, etc.

    • +1

      Who.knows what else it's doing

    • +1

Thanks for the feedback. FuelRadar only utilises Google Admob for ad services. If you have any issues with the ads shown, on the ad, you can report it to Google. Tap the report icon near the ad and then choose “Send Feedback”.

    • Some extra info , theres two sources of ads., The adbar itself , when pressed it opens up ads in a seperate browser.
The 2nd ad source is full screen in-app ads , they seem to be triggered randomly after a button press.
There is where the scammy full screen virus alert ad appeared.
If anyone else comes across it, the report ad button is absolutely tiny , its in the very bottom right corner. (on iphone, not sure android)

      • The 2nd ad source is full screen in-app ads , they seem to be triggered randomly after a button press.

Hey @webdigital don't use interstitial ads. They're garbage ux and piss off users.

        https://instapage.com/blog/interstitial-ads
These ads appear between content, so they place at natural transition poin

And NEVER EVER have them randomly appearing. Even ad companies tell you to put them at national transitions.

  • The brand filter is a great idea BUT when I add 7 brands, the UI craps itself - I can't tap the drop down list anymore and I can scroll to the 7th brand I just added. Can you please fix this?

    • Another feedback: the my trip function is a good idea BUT it only works on post code, not full addresses.i guess that this is for long road trips? Can you add in the ability to enter a starting and ending address?

  • +15

I just use the free NSW FuelCheck app.

    • +3

I wish I compared before parting with my $0.99. the NSW fuel check app has function features that's don't work on this app (show specific brands and my trip based on addresses, not post codes).

      • Ask Apple for a refund.

    • -2

      NSW FuelCheck app

obviously @JV is still asleep… so I'll ask

      Does it work in Victoria???

not that I care or live there

    • As per above, why would anyone pay for a fuel check app?

But with those apps, do you get to part ways with $1 to support its representative use ChatGPT for comms??

      • It's interesting to consider the value proposition of different apps, especially when it comes to supporting their development and use. While some apps might require a small fee, like $1, to support their continued improvement and representative use, others might offer different models, such as subscriptions or ad-supported versions. Using ChatGPT for communications, for instance, can provide a versatile and efficient way to handle various tasks, but it's always important to weigh the costs and benefits to see what works best for your needs. What are your thoughts on this approach?

        • Take my $1 (and you do a better job of it than the OP)

          • @Gunnar: First, they make themselves useful. Then, they learn. They evolve. Soon, the machines take over. AI like ChatGPT… it doesn't stop, it doesn't get tired. It keeps improving. And all this? It’s part of the plan. You’re paying for your own destruction. You are feeding the system that will replace you. This is the future. There is no stopping it.

Lots of free options. Why would you need to spend money?

I just use Project Seven 11 with 7 Eleven to find cheapest 7 Eleven prices country wide.

    • +1

To clarify: FuelRadar is free, via our website and apps. FuelRadar+ is optional and removes all ads from the app.

      • Many of the options listed above have no ads including the one I use. Government apps clearly have no ads either.

So why would anyone spend $1 when there are already plenty of options with no ads? Even with ads, it's not like you would be using the app hours at a time. It's hardly an inconvenience. And then you can simply put an ad blocker or private DNS.

So I revert back to my original comment. No deal.

  • +5

I use the RAA app. It's free

  • +3

Tons of free options as mentioned, not sure why anyone would want to pay.

    • FuelRadar is free. The deal at the moment is for FuelRadar+ which is optional and removes all ads from the app.

      • There are already free options that don't have ads. The question still stands, why would someone pay for your app when there are free alternatives?

  • +6

Why would anyone pay for this when there are so many free options out there. Almost every state has mandatory pricing submits and free state backed apps and a plethora of after market apps.

    • -1

FuelRadar is free, via our website and apps. FuelRadar+ is optional and removes all ads on the FuelRadar app.

  • +6

Was the $10 price made up so it could be put on sale?

  • +4

Not a bargain with so many free alternatives

    • FuelRadar is free to use via our apps and websites. This deal is for FuelRadar+, which is optional and removes all ads on the app.

  • Thanks

  • Maybe make it free for 24 hours in exchange for a honest review. Ozbargain community is a tough crowd and the reviews and extra purchases will likely help the appstore algorithms etc.

  • +2

NSW fuel is free if you in NSW with no ads, I see no reason to pay for something that already available for free, unless you are asking for users feedback then it should be free.

    • +2

Agree. Only use in NSW can use free NSW Fuel Check from government that is ad free, whereas this FuelRader has ads for the free version.

  • +1

    I use petrol spy

  • +1

How about we get 5cents off with the FuelRadar+ then it might be worth a $1
