28 kg…too heavy! check out the new Zempire Aerospeed 10P tent for slightly cheaper. 16kg!

Wouldn't heavier be better - more robust?

      • +2

Yes, but some people struggle lifting 28kg lol

This is the same excuse I tell my wife.

Purchased this just over a week ago and took it camping last weekend, price matching it at BCF. Replaced a Coleman 10p instant up tent, which was about the same weight and roughly the same packed dimensions.

Difference between it and the Zempire (either Aerospeed or Pronto) is this is canvas, rather than polyester, which should be more durable long term and was noticeably cooler than our previous polyester tent. The Zempires do have a single inflation port, compared to the 4 separate points for each pole with this tent.

A big factor for our family of 4 was the awning out the front, which is big enough to comfortably sit when raining and protecting the entry to the tent. It also doesn't hold water when raining. Plenty of space inside for 2 adults and 2 kids, very quick to set up, and with a set of drill in pegs, took about 15 minutes to be fully set up. Pack away is easy as well. The whole family was very happy with it.

Don't forget to season it first.

      Season it?

Do you put some oil and salt on it and put it over a hot stove?

Was expecting this kind of a comment to come from JV.

Seasoning is the process of wetting the canvas in order for it to completely seal and become waterproof after stitching has occurred.

    • How do you find it compared to the Coleman 10p?

      • +2

        Significantly better.

        • Less hassle on set up and pack down as the fly is attached with the Santorini.
        • Downside is no separate rooms, but we have grown out of the need for that, so now prefer the single room.
        • Canvas is cooler.
        • No pooling of water, which the Coleman had a major issue with, even with additional poles.
        • The awning is usable space with the Dometic, the Coleman was less so.
        • Windows can be zipped up internally with the Dometic, rather than having to go outside with the Coleman.

Both have videos on the Snowys youtube page, great info if you have the time.

        • Great info, thanks!

  • its really sad but I have seen many homeless using this tent because not houses to rent

    • Maybe I'll rent out my backyard on facebook for $500 a week.

  • Would love if someone has used this and the new zempire aerospeed 10 apart from zempire being almost half as heavy
