        Haha no where near. For me - anything sub $200 can fall into the beater category.

        I have the same reaction when I watch youtube reviewers call a $1,000+ watch a 'daily beater'. Think it was TB referencing a Khaki Hamilton.

    Bought this the other week when it was this price. Added it to compliment the non JDM model.

    Weird thing is the JDM model has English and Spanish days and the non JDM is English and Japanese.

    After running solar on most of my dailys I just couldn't go back to automatic. PITA to update the time when I want to throw it on. Mind you this is a cracker of a price for a 5.

      Lol true however it's not really comparable because it has an upgraded movement, drilled lugs, better quality case & lume.

    Cop or nah?
    Saw some reviews saying it can be a bit harder to read time because of lack of contrast.

      Definitely not the easiest watch to read, but the reflective highlights around the hands and hour markers are quite good for that bit of contrast. No issues in the light and looks amazing imo

      The first image on starbuy is too dark, it's closer to the 3rd image in person

      Overall yes may take a second longer to make out the time, but it is a stealth design!

          From the description:

          This is a JDM model Made in Japan. The dial pictured above is the non-JDM model. This version has the MADE IN JAPAN on the dial.

          JDM is Japan Domestic Market. Just because there's a "J" suffix and being made in Japan != JDM, but I can already feel my blood pressure rising so I'll just stop.

          But to answer your original question, yes, this watch is Made in Japan.

    Thoughts on the real-world size difference (for those with small wrists) between this and the Seiko 5 SNK809 (37mm vs 40mm).
    Happy with the SNK809 size, wondering if this will be too big.

    I've had this watch for 2 weeks and I've noticed the notch I usually wear the watch at is starting to fray. Any advice for a new strap?

      Try using a lighter very quickly to melt any fraying. But have a look on Aliexpress if you want something else. Just do a search for the highest selling of whatever style you want.
