Mens Suits - $37 Delivered @ Tesco

480
XMASCRACKER

This has to be the cheapest price I have ever seen for a suit online. Tesco are giving a 20% off code on all items storewide and that coincides with the current free delivery to Australia promo too.

Mostly larger sizes available for the $37 suit, but for the black striped suit jacket and trousers, - http://www.clothingattesco.com/f+f/f+f-black-striped-regular…, plenty of availbility in most sizes for just $55 delivered.

These are polyester but for the price its well worth a punt I reckon.

  • Great! Mine came to $24 aud. worth at shot at that price. Thanks OP.

    • Was that just for the jacket?

      • +1

        Crap! Yes, thanks.

  • +36

100% polyester? BAHAHAHAHAHA. Good luck with that. Would you wear a 100% polyester shirt? Nup. Especially in humid australia. And shiny suits suck.
It's not worth it. Just because it's cheap doesn't make it a worthwhile purchase.

    • +3

Fair enough if you were planning to wear this everyday for an office job, but for the odd wedding or funeral etc, it'll do just fine.

      • +66

or if you intend to try and offset rising electricity prices by generating your own whilst walking in this suit.

      • +2

I agree. I'm not buying the suit and would never wear something like this to work but for those who only wear a suit every 1-2 years and not too concerned with the quality or comfort this could be a handy item to keep in your wardrobe. You can't buy suits at Lowes for this price!

      • +3

        a 100% polyester suit?
they shouldnt even exist.. surely, if youre going to a wedding you can fork out a little bit of money and buy something a bit better. wearing this would just be offensive to the bride + groom.

    • Do you assume we all live in a humid climate?

      • -5

Yes. Well, Auckland is 68% and Christchurch is 41% humidity right now - that's humid.

        • ? Well 1% is humidity too. ?

        • England's about 80% humidity on average…

        • +6

Last time I checked it's ozbargain, not nzbargain..

    • +2

Would you wear a 100% polyester shirt?

I have a few of them. Polyester is great for sports and travel wear. e.g. cycling jersey, swim rashy.
Polyester does not get soggy when wet, the way cotton does. Its also quick-dry. Perfect for backpacking in SE asia, or bushwalking.
Cotton is a poor choice for active-wear. Wool is what the explorers used before synthetcis were invented.

OTOH, I'd much prefer a wool-rich blend for a suit, and cotton blend for a regular shirt.

  • Can only use the code once. Had to pay full price for my pants :(

    • Check out twice?

      • Yep.

        • +1

Just create another account with a different email address. Simple!

  • +8

    Tailored Garbage bag

    • Maybe, but good to wear to the cricket!

    • +3

Well not everyone can afford named brands, mate.

How is that worthy of derision?

      • +1

Because you'd be better off not wearing this suit than wearing it.

        • Some people don't have a choice…?

Unemployed people going on interviews for example…

Get some perspective, sitting up there in your ivory towers. Seriously.

        • well you're not going to make a very good impression with a 100% polyester suit - it basically defeats the whole purpose of wearing a suit

        • Ah well, doesn't matter what we say milkguru. All this thread has taught me is that some people are so far removed from reality re: looking presentable that it doesn't matter what we say.

My -7 votes down the page a bit is testament to that.

        • +4

Why are you still here? Move on mate, seriously. This bargain is obviously of no interest to you, why do you persist on preaching to others what they should be wearing. Your insulting comments are not welcome here.

      • Well not everyone can afford named brands, mate.

Tesco is a named brand too!

  • +6

I got mine at full price in England (like £50).

Can vouch for them being decent enough quality - have had no problems with mine at all.

  • +1

Didn't buy the jacket but picked up some other stuff. Knickers were very cheap. Can confirm that discount applied to everything in shopping cart. Some items not shipped to Australia unfortunately.

  • +3

    Polyester = nasty

There is a reason they make fun of the polyester suits of the 70's and 80's and is not just the fashion.

If this is all you have to spend but a wooll suit from an op shop

    • +2

Got a genuine Tweed jacket for $3 in an Op Shop a few years ago.

      • I got a grey Pierre Cardin suit jacket for $5 from the Red Cross (admittedly, it would have been more expensive if I wasn't volunteering there at the time, but what an absolute bargain!)

    • +6

Polyester wears better (and does not cause skin reactions like wool does for me) -it is lighter, drys quicker, doesn't crease as easily, and in some cases is easier to remove stains from. You can also hand-wash some polyester suits.

By the way they also have some wool suits at tesco which are cheap too.

  • +1

There is an extra 7% cashback (its normally 5% I think) for the next 20 hours or so for those who have a Quidco account… works alongside the 20% discount.

  • ughh too bad there are no size for me
    being small is sucks sighhh

    • +5

As people above have said it depends on your needs… I needed a suit for dinner on a cruise and bought one from M&S last year for approx 28 pounds delivered … quality was far better than expected and I used it for the cruise and then put it away and have not used it since.

      • -8

        "Depends on your needs".

Down vote me all you like. All I'm going to say is that if you wear this to work or a wedding you deserve to be judged. It is a poor fitting, poorly constructed $37 suit.

It doesn't cost too much more to wear something acceptable.

Don't try and ozbargain on all aspects of your life….

        • +1

^ It's true, have a look at the second picture from behind, Looks super blocky if you ask me.

        • +2

We may not all be as well off as yourself you know. I'm sure if I had the money, I too would prefer to buy a $250 suit. If you wish to judge those on that basis, then go ahead, a little harsh though if you ask me.

        • +1

I disagree with both of you, A proper suit isn't even a necessity for special occasions.

2 bucks? You're paying too much..

        • -7

Maybe you're not very well off because you choose to wear $37 suits. Food for thought.

        • Keep the insults coming….You're doing yourself no favours here mate.

        • -6

No, I think I've covered every angle, so we can leave it there.

There's the suit I bought from Asda maybe 4 years ago now. That's what it looks like on.

I think it just looks like a suit, personally. There's nothing negative I can say about it except I maybe got the pants too big - which was my fault.

No styling issues at all - it's no Hugo Boss $500 monstrosity, but it's a smart suit for special occasions. |It will last me as long as any other named-brand suit you care to mention.

        • +1

No offence intended, but your crotch looks a little low…….

        • Yeah no - the pants are a bit big on me.

What I was proving was the quality/style is pretty decent.

        • -1

          the style is average.
no one wears three button suits anymore.
and you NEVER do the last button up in a suit jacket.
on a positive: at least you aren't wearing white shoes.

        • +1

As offensive as it is, it's true. If you rock up to a professional job in a $30 suit, people are not going to take you seriously. It also screams that you have probably never worn a suit before, which is as good as saying you have no experience in any job you would be required to wear a suit for in the first place.

Always spend a bit extra on a suit because it is a 10 years + purchase.

This would be good for easy laughs on a paintball day… Not much else.

        • The picture quality isn't a lot to go by…

        • the style is average.

          So not bad?

no one wears three button suits anymore.

          I do.

and you NEVER do the last button up in a suit jacket.

          I do.

on a positive: at least you aren't wearing white shoes.

          harharhar.

          Ever the altruist, timmye.

Anyway, I gotta go to a job I got while wearing this suit for the interview.

          See ya dude!

          • 3 button suits are aged, he is trying to help you. I think its crap that someone decided 3 button suits weren't in anymore, but it is the way it is. If you buy a new suit, don't get a 3 button one.
          • and he is right, you NEVER do the last button up when wearing a suit jacket.

He is trying to help you, but as you appear to know everything already he is clearly doing so in vain.

  • Guys, is there a minimum spend to get the free delivery? I was looking at some cheap t-shirts, which, if combined with free delivery would be great!

  • +9

A cheap suit looks worse than no suit IMHO. might be OK if you intend to trash it for a fancy dress party or something, that's about it.

    • +6

Agreed. A suit is a bit different to the typical stuff we see on OzBargain (namely computer parts and freebies) in terms of whether or not it works well for an individual. Whilst I typically tell people that a suit is really only as good as the tailor who makes it fit- I greatly suspect this $37 suit will look a lot like other <$100 suits I've seen over the years which just scream cheap a mile away. Better off saving a bit more, getting something from say Man 2 Man and then getting it tailored to fit well. The only good thing I can think of using a $37 suit for would be either a high school formal, for a joke/skit (involving cheap suits), or to attend an event where you need to wear a suit but are expecting there to be significant spillage of food/liquor.

That being said, $37 is still ridiculously cheap for a suit.

    • +11

No it doesn't. I interview on average at least 5 people a week and a really cheap suit beats no suit by a long way.

  • Voucher code not working for me.

    • Used to work for me and now it doesnt :(

      • I just bought one 30 seconds ago and it worked fine.

  • Like anyone could tell if this Is a cheap suit if u wore it for funeral or wedding, might not feel comfortably but least its worth it

    • +1

A poor quality suit stands out. Polyester is shiny, it simply looks cheap. Cheap suits typically have less stitching and structure which means they don't flatter and highlight the shape of your body.

  • +8

I'll upload a picture of my glorious body in this suit when it arrives.

    • & I will admire your glorious body in this suit when it arrives.

      • No doubt. ;)

        • how about a photo of your birthday suit?

        • You first. :)

  • +2

A decent price. But you can get proper wool suits cheaper 2nd hand from op shops, it's a gold mine. Not negging, but I'd prefer a cleaned 2nd hand wool suit to something like this. And with op shops you can try it on for size, which is important with a suit.

    • Not all of us are regulation sizes though
I am tall broad and thin-ish
      Others are larger etc
Can't buy off the rack at Op Shop - or Tesco for that matter
And I guess that is one downside of this internet buy
At least at Op Shop you can try it on and check if the hems can be let down etc
Frankly though I gave up looking in op shops for clothes, could never find anything

  • can't deny… a great suit just for the rainy day, like a backup to keep in the office desk/locker, lest u spill the coffee on your suit on an important day! thanks gooddealmate

  • +2

remember the kastanza cotton polyester suit episoe?
he got the team to wear cotton and they lost.
polyester has come a long way from the 70s.
many women's clothes are pure polyester. viscose etc.
    they can be cool
cotton can be hot and crinkly
