99% off Vietjet Flights across The Whole Network (Excl Taxes), Fly 1 Jan to 22 May 2025 @ Vietjet

923
VJ99

Taken with a grain of salt, but I did a quick check with a domestic Vietnam flight and the taxes were ~US$23, so that's not atrocious. Remains to be seen on Monday. Also from the wording, there's probably x on every route where x is a small number, so be fast, I guess.

Found at https://travel.nine.com.au/latest/vietjet-sale-vietnam-fligh…

While the price doesn't include tax and fees, the bargain flights are on offer from 1 January to 22 May, 2025.

The availability of discounted seats on the low-cost airline varies depending on the route and travel dates, the airline points out.

Vietjet flies from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth to destinations including Hoh Chi Minh City, Hai Noi and Da Nang.

everytime these deal occur ive never been able to find any

    • +4

As I said, I presume it's very limited seats on each route. But hey, someone gets them.

    • Supply and demand has entered the chat.

Almost never in time. Guaranteed to miss your baggage. No compensation.

    • +6

Haven’t missed my baggage the four times I’ve been on them, they have changed up departure times but usually departed on time. The staff have hooked me up numerous times with better seats too. One of the best LCCs I’ve flown.

    • +10

      Are you talking about Qantas?

      • +3

They do all this but aren't low cost

    • +1

      Only take carry on!

  • +12

Had the worst experience last time! Flight was scheduled for 12am and left at 5.30 am. Lucky the guy gave me a free meal by mistake 🤣

    • How much notice did they give?

      • +2

Text in the afternoon on the day before, saying it had changed to around 1.45am. Then after waiting in line at the check in for hours, they opened the counter at 2am. After that one more text saying, 4 am and it ended up leaving around 5.30am

        • +4

Thats awful. Not worth saving few hundred dollars

          • @star-ggg: Definitely! I did it for the extra baggage (40kg). Otherwise I wouldn’t be using them.

  • Curious to know what the value of the taxes and airport departure/landing/handling fees amount to?

      So many fees

    • I wonder how Jetstar do it for $150 all inclusive.

      • Replace fuel with sawdust, scrap safety entirely and fire all management.

        • +4

I'm about to embark on my 5th Jetstar flight to VN and there's been no complaints from me. Never paid more than $320 return and not had a single issue. I think their international flights are a lot more reliable than their domestic ones overall.

          • +6

@cv05: I've flown Jetstar to Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore 1-2 times per year for 15 years now.

Never had any delay over 30mins.

            Never lost luggage.

Flew AirAsia once, they lost my luggage, finally found it weeks later and made me go all the way to Tullamarine to search through abandoned offices to find it.

I'm happy to keep using them, despite all the hatred.

            • @wetsandwich: The last return leg we actually arrived in Sydney 40min ahead of schedule. This allowed us to catch an earlier connecting flight by 4 hours.

I flew via Vietnam Airlines last year on a pretty good deal but it's just not worth the extra. The meal was really average, no wifi, no comfort packs. The seat room was a bit bigger is all really.

            • +1

@wetsandwich: At this point, I've flown at least 6 different airlines going to Bali, Thailand or Vietnam, they all suck one way or another. Jetstar prices have been increasing, but at least you can get free water onboard. VietJet are usually cheap and cheerful, but no free water.
I've had delays on all airlines, the worst has prob been Jetstar, my flight last night was delayed by 2 hours.
Thankfully I've never lost any luggage.

Cebu is one airline I wont fly again for international. They're just too budget.

              • @packeteer: I got free water on my last Vietjet flights but that might just be due to how handsome I am.

      • +1

Because Vietjet is dodgy, they have higher fuel surcharge. So it is not really a $0 sale or 99% off sale since they disguise significant part of fare cost under fuel surcharge.

Check the cost breakdown on Jetstar and you can see that it is lower than Vietjet.

        • Ah well that makes sense. All these Vietjrt sales are relarively expensive, even if you do get to snaffle a $1 fare. I'd rather wait for the Jetstar sales which are pretty much guaranteed atleast twice a year.

        • +1

This, I always fly Jetstar. Vietjet tickets end up being more expensive with the fuel surcharge, even when they advertise $0 fares!
Plus, Jetstar is way more comfortable with the Dreamliners, while Vietjet is still using old Airbus planes, no TV screens or anything! Shocking!

BTW - for me no issues what so ever flying Jetstar, touch.

    • So really the same price as Jetstar during their sale they have every 3 weeks once you add it all up…

  • +1

Have they cancelled Adelaide flights? I can't see anything to Adelaide after October?

    • May be they are done with Adelaide post October as they have not opened up any summer season (peak) segment 😟

  • i found 2 people syd to SGN for $951.6 AUD end of Feb 2025

  • -3

    Fake news

  • +4

isn't this the airlines who had scantily clad stewardesses a couple of years ago?

    • +2

Sounds terrible, what are the longest routes they fly so I can avoid them?

  • +14

The only thing that 99% represents is the percentage of people that will miss out on the deal lol

  • Likely staffs or their agents grab before us, hence why

    • +3

Why would staff want to grab these fares when they can probably fly for 10% of the fare at almost any time?

  • does anyone even now when these deals get released on the very off chance we can score a deal

  • I hate these types of deals, it's either they're sold out in seconds (so you just got anxious for nothing) or they have very specific dates and flight times and there's only a couple of them in which case they sold out quick too. I stopped getting hyped for these types of deals since then.

  • Vietjet had been voted as 6 stars…….of DELAY airlines

    • I'm prepared there's such a category. They should be proud.

  • 99% off, that seems phò

  • -8

They are the worst airline or have the worst airline staff when it comes to handling crises. Their attitude and service management are extremely poor. From personal experience, when our flight was cancelled, they created chaos and put everyone in a difficult situation, including business class travellers. Overall, not worth a penny for the peace of mind. It's better to choose Singapore or other airlines.

    • First, i dont think it’s worth the neg, second you compared a national owned airline to private owned one (i don't say national owned is better, just the criteria benchmark is wrong). Third, you compared a premium airline to economy airline. To put it fair, it should be in this way:
Vietjet (100% private) <=> Scoot and Tiger Air (Sing Air owned but for your comparison)
Vietjet <=> Jetstar (Qantas owned, I know)

      • -2

In summary, VietJet promised certain things to all passengers at Sydney Airport, but they did not fulfill their promises upon reaching Vietnam. Some passengers took over a week to reach their final destination from the original itinerary. I'm not trying to make comparisons, but I recommend avoiding VietJet.

  • +3

These sales never actually exist. I logged on in the first hour of one of them, not a single flight, not one, at the advertised price on any date.
I doubt anyone else was up at midnight to get all these slightly cheap flights on a sh*tty airline, they just don't actually have any for sale.

    • I had the same issue last year. Vietjet are my go to for Vietnamese domestic flights, but these deals seem to barely exist for international.

  • +2

well, I can find $0 tickets from SYD - TFU in November already. However, the Fees & Taxes will be 573.26 AUD in total for a return flight. This price is not too bad, but some other full-service airlines do similar or even lower prices on similar days. So it's probably not a really good deal.

    • have a link for these full-service airlines at similar price? might jump on it.

  • Thanks to this flight company I could escape from China during covid time with a reasonable price. Still remember hostess took off their protective suit which required by Chinese gov once took off.

  • You can book the flights now, the fees are ridiculous, i rather fly singapore for $675 return or jetstar for $500 return

  • I'm not expecting much of a deal since 99% off is only ticket fare, and their taxes and fees are quite high.

    • Good awareness for ppl to read into fare breakdown.
Dodgy airlines with fake sales, the total tax for example Mel-SGN is only $104.70 yet Vietjet charged significant fee total of $160

      These charges are
      - Admin Fee
      - Handling Fee
      - Management Fee
      - Fuel Surcharge

  • I'm not seeing any changes in prices yet, and the code VJ99 does nothing.

  • The cheap prices appear in the monthly view, then you choose the day and the flight prices more than double…

  • Just read it starts at GMT+7… So 3am for eastern states

    • Haha I suspected something dumb like this. They paid Nine for the promotion article but didn't think to include basic information on when their sale actually starts, including conveying that information sufficiently on their own website.

I guess we will not be saying Hello…. Vietnam…..

      • They did exactly the same thing last year.

  • Discovered they no longer flying to Perth, this is despite advertising the route in the promo. So it is not obtainable at all for Perth, very, very dodgy.

  • So.. what's the verdict.. waiting for the smart folks to let us know if there is something.. maybe sold out by the time it gets to the comments..

  • Doesnt seem like theres been any price change ngl

  • No flights from Perth :( looking for Jan 2025. Misleading and dishonest promo.

  • Where do you apply the code? Can't find it anywhere to enter it in?

*Found it but no discount applied.

    • How do you apply the code? Thanks

      • It's just in the screen where you select the passengers before going through to search

  • +1

Appear to be plenty of $0 flights available from SYD -> SGN in Feb/March. VJ99 code seems to reduce flights that are currently around 900K VND (~$54) + tax down to $0 + tax. Total return fare with taxes is still around 7.9M VND (~$481) though, plus the credit card surcharges they have, so in reality you're saving around $100 on a return trip.

    • +2

So a 99% percent off vietjet sale results in $481 cost.

And yet last jetstar sale you could fly return for $302.

Isn't it amazing they can do 99% off and their fares are still similar to what the prices on skyscanner are for this route. Sounds legit.

Edit: wow, so scammy. $257 in "fees" for one way of a return fare (ie. only half of the fee):

      Admin service charge (ITL)
      26

      Pax Service
      43.91

      Safety and Security Charge
      4.17

      Passenger Movement Charge
      70

      Fuel Surcharge
      96.6

      Management fee ITL
      17

      VAT tax

      0

  • None available from Ho Chi Minh or Saigon to Sydney in January, this is misleading

    • Yeah I was looking for those dates as well.

    • +1

Airlines have blockout periods for sales which include school holidays. It's always been this way.

      • The sale date was from 1st of Jan

        • 4: Travel Period: January 1st - May 22nd, 2025 (excluding public holidays, Tet, and peak season… depending on each market)

  • At which step do we enter the discount code? I can't see it.
NVM: It's the very first step.
