Never understood why they chose this sub pixel layout.
what's the subpixel layout?
Do newer ones not use this? I want OLED but font clarity is very important to me. Do I stay away from OLED or do I look for OLEDs with a certain pixel layout?
there is are new QD OLEDS (360hz) with better subpixel layout and same with W OLED (480hz very new). There are much better but of course expensive.
@umadbrahhhh: Cool, I'll bide my time until the become cheaper I guess. Thanks for the info.
@bleeder: You can get the Samsung OLED G6 for around $750 at the moment which is one of the 360hz QD-OLEDS listed above, they won’t get any cheaper than that
@cille745: when I say 'bide my time' I mean I will wait a year or two.
@cille745: Out of interest, got a link for that G6 for $750?
@bleeder: Currently $999, $100 for recycling any screen, edu discount and the 5% first order through the app
Is this the same for the AW3423DWF listed in the description?
Sorry that is the model I am refering to.
Thanks for clarifying. Bit of a shame, been looking to upgrade to OLED for a while, have to wait for next gen screens.
Could you be more specific? What sort of issues are there with fonts?
Not sure that's applicable. This is the panels in those monitors https://www.panelook.com/M320QAN02.C_AUO_32.0_LCM_overview_5… and it doesn't seem to specify that it is QD-OLED, as compared to the Alienware one.

@smartialarts: You're talking about the G3223Q, which is fantastic for text. The other one is the AW3423DWF, which is brilliant for gaming but text rendering isn't great because it has a triangular subpixel layout.
@twister292: Correct. Just wanted to point it out so ppl don't lump the two together, especially given the fact that non QD-OLED is in the title and hence more prominently visible.
@smartialarts: It was edited prior
I use this exclusively for office work and have no idea what you're on about. It's been great.
Dell or Alienware?
I’m sure he means the Dell which is very good for both office work and games.
Dell
One of these refurbs could be mine…
Always stings when I see deals for this monitor, was unlucky to get a DOA unit
Yours didn’t power on or something else?

Purchased from this deal, unit for $500.6
Monitor can be detected, and you can change resolution etc, but monitor would not display through any of the ports, couldnt even open the monitor menu.
Happened to quite a few people in that deal, Dell support was shocking too
Do yourself a favour and buy new for $557.53 using the expired deal.
Pity this is the first gen panel. any type of officework is terrible on this with fonts.
