  • $65 for a wireless controller. That's some seriously high markup — makes me glad I'm not an early adopter…

(goes back to playing on 6 year old Wii console)

    • +1

Not sure if you are an early adopter. Or making a joke as the wii came out 6yr ago, and had a moderate price tag.

      • It's the Wii U Pro Controller not the Wii Classic Controller Pro.

The Wii Classic Controller Pro is not wireless, it's thumb sticks are in a different location and it is for a different console.

        • Check who you are replying to :(

        • I did, I now get it though.

When Scrimshaw said 6 years old, I assumed they meant it came out 6 years ago but not meaning they actually purchased it 6 years ago. I got my first Wii 4 months ago and that's where my thoughts went too.

It's where you placed the punctuation in your sentence, it confused me. Well that's my excuse.

        • English wasn't my strong point in school :(

          Physical Education wasn't mine.

why isn't anyone selling the new gamepads ?

    • +1

No games support 2 gamepads yet.

      • So you can't play a 2 player game with 2 gamepads ?

        • +2

You can.. Just not yet :(

Nintendo has said that the wii u does support 2 gamepads. So in the future when they are being sold and games are being made to support 2 gamepads then you will be able to

        • i'll just have to wait then before getting one…

my 2 boys would be fighting over who uses the gamepad, so it ain't going to last long…

        • +2

          Wait… You have kids jv?

I can't even begin to imagine what it's like when you take the kids shopping.

        • Make sure it stops there.

        • when you take the kids shopping.

          i barely survived today…

        • you should have brought them to the Wiggles concert instead…

        • You can.. Just not yet :(

Are you saying right now there are no local multiplayer games on the system at all (like Wii Sports for example), or there are but the second player does not use the tablet? If
the latter, what controller is the second player supposed to use?

        • +1

I'm saying the other players don't use a the gamepad 'tablet'.

Games such as nintendo land use 1 gamepad and up to 4 wii remotes. Some of the games pit the gamepad player against the wii remote users so it is still fun to take turns using either the wii remote/gamepad

Other games like Call of Duty you can use either the gamepad, wii remote/nunchuck or pro controller to play. You can also use the gamepad as a seperate screen in multiplayer so no screen cheating!

        • Ugh.. I thought this would be the end of Wiimotes.

        • Most people that get use to wiimotes don't want to leave them. Just like you got use to a controller that uses two sticks to control the player.

    • I guess it's to lessen confusion.
People would probably buy the spare gamepad thinking it works with the old wii.

      • It's to lessen anger - I bought a $200 accessory that I can't use!

    • you've already asked that in a previous post…

This looks like an xbox controller lol

    • -5

More like a PS3 controller, but with the analogue sticks swapped with the face buttons

      • +9

Looks like a Wii U controller.

      • -2

facepalm… that's what an XBox controller looks like duh!

      • I thought it reminded me of a Sega mega drive controller ;)

  • +2

I can't see where Nintendo are headed, their consoles are seriously lacking a bit of punch…

  • Anyone know how much the Tablet controller will cost?

  • Game pads look to be around $200 for replacements

    • Yikes. That is expensive. There is no processor in that tablet, it's only a screen (and only 480p at that). The Wii U is doing the processing.

For that price you can get a 7" tablet which is basically a computer with RAM, storage, CPU, GPU, and a higher quality capacitive screen.

      • The gamepads will most likely not be that expensive. Nothing has been announced and it is just a retail price holder similar to the way they originally put the wii U at $600

      • Looking a tech websites Microsoft have patents to linking tablets to the XBox, you can already use Microsoft Smart glass for some functionality. But speculations as to them using a tablet on the next console for some gaming. It could be very cool, say Halo 5 and when you look at Tablet you have your map, or inventory or whatever.

        • You can do that on Wii U right now ;)

        • You are right of course, I was more thinking of the fact you might pay $200 for a large gamepad to act like a very limited tablet but if Microsoft is able to link your current tablet (assuming you own one) to an Xbox at no additional cost, well, that would be awesome!

        • It's going to be difficult to get developer support for the tablet screen, because unlike with the Wii U gamepad, the developers can't assume people will have one, so they'll just make a lazy effort like putting a map on the screen.

        • Microsoft’s Smartglass:

          http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/11/microsofts-smartglass-is-gr…

Halo 4 on Smartglass gives you the game’s waypoint service. It's a basic feature, but its a start and it is already here.

Anyone gonna buy one of these?

I dont think I would as I dont like Console controllers.

    • +2

Was the Wii your first and only console?

      • -1

Atari 2600, C64, Sega Megadrive, PSX, PS2, Wii

        And your point?

Im a PC Gamer and I cant get used to Analog toggles when a mouse is better for FPS games.

Bought the WiiU for for a bit of novelty.

        • +1

What you are used to is better. Be that a mouse or a controller. To make a broad statement that one is better for everyone is ignorant.

        • Atari 2600, C64, Sega Megadrive, PSX, PS2, Wii

          And your point?

You do realize that all of these systems had console controllers right? In the case of Wii, it was an optional accessory but still available.

  • Monster hunter tri with pro pad for Wii $49

Plug the controller to your wii mote and you get wireless controller + a free game!

    oldie but a good one

  • Umm… so how does the free delivery thing work? When I go to start the whole checkout thing it says it's going to charge me ~$5 for it, which doesn't sound very free.

    • It shows up but then applies a discount for shipping. Just go through the checkout and it should total $55.96 when you go to pay.

      • Ah, there it goes. Must have screwed up the first time around, because it was still saying $60 in the total. Cheers!

  • I haven't received my Wii U yet, but originally I was hoping to sell the tablet controller and pick up a couple normal pro controllers, I have no intention of looking at a little screen when I have a big tv.

But I am yet to find out whether the tablet controller is necessary for complete operation of all console controls etc :/ I tend to think some games will require the tablet controller to operate.. but again not sure?

And unless the Wii U acts in the same way a HarmonyOne remote does (control all my devices), it won't have any use there either.

    • Some games require the gamepad some you may be able to get away with not having one. You would need atleast a wii remote I would think for the menus. There is a lot of displaying different things on each screen in menus that may make it difficult without a gamepad

    • +1

Some key functions are only displayed on the tablet so you definitely can't sell yours.

  • Does anybody know if this works with Snes9x ex or with other applications on my Nexus 7?

  • Hmm fark me. Got rip off at EB games. 14 buck mark up. Oh well. That teach me to look here first before buying.

    • This has 20% off, otherwise prices ~same
